feat(access): project effective roles and the catalog in the backend snapshot - #62
Conversation
…snapshot Each subject now carries its effective roles, the granted ones plus every role they inherit from through parents, with the latest expiry among the paths that grant them, merged exactly like permissions. A top-level catalog names every role and every permission the projection carries, so the backend can offer them in a picker. Both are additive to polinetwork.access-snapshot/v1. The catalog is part of the fingerprint, so renaming a role or permission bumps the generation and the ETag.
WalkthroughThe access snapshot now includes effective roles with expiry data and a catalog of role and backend permission names. Snapshot fingerprinting includes the catalog. Tests and documentation cover the updated response. ChangesAccess snapshot projection

- Line 150: Update the permission filters in the access snapshot projection to
exclude every key beginning with the idp: namespace, both in catalog.permissions
and resolved.permissions, rather than relying on exact managed-key matches.
Remove the isManagedPermissionKey import if it is no longer used.

#2) * feat(snapshot): expose effective roles and the role/permission catalog The IdP now sends each subject's effective roles, with per-role expiry, and a catalog naming every role and projected permission (PoliNetworkOrg/auth#62). Both are additive to polinetwork.access-snapshot/v1 and optional in the consumer schema, so snapshots from older IdPs, including persisted ones, still parse. AccessSubject gains a roles map and AccessIndex gains hasRole(subject, role, now?), roles(subject, now?) and catalog(); the client gains hasRole(actor, role). A malformed catalog is dropped rather than failing the snapshot, since it is display data only. * docs(contract): clarify the Master Admin entry and malformed catalog lists
The backend needs each subject's roles and the names of roles and permissions for a new e-signing feature (which roles or permissions may use each drive). The snapshot only carried permissions.
Additive to
polinetwork.access-snapshot/v1, so the rollout order with the backend and@polinetwork/auth-kitdoes not matter:subjects[].roles:Record<roleKey, { validUntil: string | null }>, the effective roles. These are the roles granted by any path (manual assignment,IDP_ADMIN_USER_IDS, student proof, Entra groups) plus every role they inherit throughparents, using the same expansion as permission resolution (resolveAccess). Each role carries the latest expiry among its paths, merged like permissions, and expired paths are omitted. Sorted by key. Which subjects are included does not change.catalog:{ roles: { key, name }[]; permissions: { key, name }[] }. It lists every role in the RBAC catalog and every permission the projection carries (the IdP-managedidp:*ones are excluded), sorted by key.generationand the ETag.Changes:
src/auth/access-snapshot.ts:projectBackendSubjectscollects roles next to permissions; newprojectBackendCatalog;AccessSubject/AccessSnapshottypesvp checkstill reports the pre-existing formatting issue insrc/dev/personas.ts, which this PR leaves alone. The Postgres/HTTP integration tests did not run locally.
