The existing preset accepts mixed inline and split boolean parts. Add an owned native PHPCS Sniff so symbolic &&/|| parts of multiline if/elseif/while/do-while conditions start on separate lines, plus a bounded adapter of PHPCS's native PSR-12 structural checker for the condition wrapper. Preserve single-line conditions, opaque function/arrow/anonymous-class declarations, comments, grouping and short-circuit semantics. No new parser, dependency, risky migration or semantic refactor.
Native ECS withSpacing(), withSkip() and callback-last precedence remain supported. Fingerprint the preset and both owned checker paths/bytes to invalidate stale passing results. The compiled inventory distinguishes 63 native non-risky fixers from two explicitly allowlisted Sniffs; PHPCS has no native isRisky() contract, so Sniff risk classification is recorded honestly.
Conflict reconciliation
Current main: 72cfa56678fc8bfbe91c61afc853aeadbf29e9ac. Published candidate: 4bad533e7ccb03f875c9a3a49c4c698497ca7616. Normal fast-forward branch push; this PR targets main directly.
Complete the preserved integration, retain main's trailing-comma compatibility policy, and incorporate its current CLI/process/optional-analysis changes. Port unique multiline-policy documentation into the canonical RST destinations; do not restore the removed Markdown documents. Preserve the current portable consumer skill byte-for-byte and extend only its configuration reference. Manifest and lock are unchanged from main. The separate Composer-normalize integration and zero-major guard are outside this PR.
PSR/PER scope
PSR-12 sections 5.1/5.3 define the first-expression and closing-delimiter layout for multiline conditions. PER Coding Style 3.0 sections 5.1/5.3 and 6.4 selects leading operators. Default indentation/line endings are four spaces/LF. Two-space/tab/CRLF overrides are explicit departures, not PSR/PER compliance claims. Splitting every eligible boolean part is an additional project policy; this does not require expanding single-line conditions or claim complete PER conformance.
The candidate includes the formerly pending native wrapper correction and golden cases for if/elseif/while/do-while, quoted/text/comment boundaries, spacing overrides and stable continuation offsets. The adapter delegates to the installed native checker and adds only the reviewed first-token indentation compatibility guard.
Actual validation and remaining gates
Independent read-only review of the integrated candidate and the subsequent whitespace-only deltas and four concise PHPDoc summaries found no blocking findings. Current tree: b61d3f9fe6f97dad878a1584f43d95edd9acb210.
PHP parsing of both owned checkers, preset and regression tests passed. Both input/expected golden pairs preserve significant tokens/comments/literals.
Eleven changed existing service/fixture files are token-identical to their reviewed parents/main excluding whitespace. Diff whitespace checks passed; canonical local documentation links were reviewed.
Local behavioral reruns were not executed because the unchanged host load guard blocked execution above threshold 8. Hosted qualification below is recorded separately, never as a local pass. No borrowed vendor graph or changed load limit was used.
Current-head Quality 40731955085 succeeded on PHP 8.3/8.4/8.5: 281 tests / 2,166 assertions each, Composer strict/platform checks, syntax, both full ECS batches, isolated Twig evaluation and final clean diff. The CLI regressions execute the native wrapper golden cases, spacing overrides, token preservation, no-write check, cache invalidation and idempotence.
Current-head PR Standards 40731955221, Changelog 40731956709/40731952297 and dynamic checks 40731946414 succeeded. The six integrated-main formatting findings were corrected using the actual native ECS diffs, without changing significant tokens. The sole CodeRabbit finding about four missing private-method summaries was corrected in this head, preserving every existing @param/@return tag and all executable tokens; the bot marked that thread addressed. Implementation and CI qualification are complete; Codex and CodeRabbit remain separate current-head review gates. No approval or final merge is performed.
No consumer formatting, dependency/lock update, tag, release or final PR merge is performed by this correction.
Multiline if, elseif, while, and do-while conditions now format symbolic && and || operators on separate lines, including within grouped expressions, arguments, and array indexes.
Formatting follows the configured indentation and line endings, while preserving single-line conditions and existing spacing overrides.
Documentation
Added guidance on the multiline-condition formatting rules, configuration options, and limitations.
Refactor
Reformatted existing conditions without changing their behavior.
The preset now registers two PHPCS sniffs for multiline condition formatting. The default cache fingerprints the configuration and owned sniff sources. CLI integration tests cover formatting, exclusions, spacing overrides, skip behavior, and cache invalidation.
ECSConfig registers the two owned sniffs and fingerprints their source files and the configuration in the default cache path. The preset snapshot and documentation include the sniff inventory and cache behavior.
The spacing adapter uses PHPCS’s PSR-12 control-structure sniff with configured indentation. The boolean-condition sniff reports and fixes inline && and `

Explanation
Issue #58 coding requirements are covered. MultilineBooleanConditionSniff checks multiline if, elseif, while, and do-while conditions and splits inline symbolic && and || parts without evaluating application code. The integration suite covers mixed layouts, nested grouping, comments, multiline calls, call arguments, array indexes, opaque function/arrow/anonymous-class bodies, single-line conditions, logical keywords, and non-condition expressions. Check mode is non-mutating. Fix mode preserves significant tokens and reaches stable output. ECSConfig registers the owned rules, and PresetTest plus the reported whole-project and CLI checks qualify the effective preset.

Explanation
The changes stay within issue #58. The new Sniffs, preset registration, cache fingerprint, documentation, fixtures, and integration tests support the multiline-condition policy. Existing-file formatting changes apply the same policy and preserve behavior. The reported tests cover spacing, skip precedence, token preservation, idempotence, and cache invalidation. No unrelated dependency, parser, migration, or semantic refactor is shown.

multiline-boolean-conditions.md — added, minor
Check and fix one symbolic boolean part per line in existing multiline if, elseif, while and do-while conditions through an owned native ECS Sniff. Preserve single-line conditions, function/arrow/class expressions and native spacing/skip overrides. Fingerprint owned policy source for cache invalidation and record the Sniff separately from native fixer risk classifications. Enforce first-expression and closing-wrapper placement through the native PHPCS PSR-12 implementation, adapted to the ECS spacing service. Default to four spaces/LF; document nonstandard spacing overrides explicitly and preserve alternative syntax without claiming complete standards certification.
