SUGGESTION: dispose() is assumed to return a promise; a synchronous dispose replaces the original initialize() failure with a catch is not a function TypeError and skips throw e.

packages/dbt-tools/src/index.ts:206 already cleans up with the shape-agnostic try { await adapter.dispose() } catch {}. Using that here keeps the initialize error the caller depends on: register.ts logs it and falls back to the configured mode, and losing it turns the whole attempt into a cached null.

not an issue: @altimateai/dbt-integration declares DBTProjectIntegrationAdapter.dispose() as async dispose(): Promise<void>, so it always returns a promise and never throws synchronously; .catch can't replace the initialize() error.

P2: dbt_lineage returns different structured shapes on the two paths: the adapter path has nodes/columnLineage, and the manifest path has upstream/columns/edges. A client that reads edges as the comment describes gets nothing on the adapter path. Either map the adapter result to the manifest field names or document both shapes in the output schema.

[WARNING]: The two paths return disjoint structuredContent shapes

With the dbt integration up this branch forwards ModelLineage (version, focus, nodes, columnLineage, stats). With it down - the default read-only MCP server - the metadata is forwarded instead (model_name, edges, columns, upstream). A client reading structured.edges gets undefined in write mode; one reading columnLineage gets undefined in read-only mode, even though STRUCTURED_FIELDS.dbt_lineage advertises edges/columns. Map both paths to one shape, or make the difference explicit in the tool description so the lineage pane handles both.

Correct the "in the structured result" note when that result is dropped.

When structuredResult exceeds 60,000 bytes, it sends only the capped text with truncated: true. The columnLineage edges are then absent from structuredContent, including the first 200 that the text shows. The overflow note at dbt-lineage.ts:326 still says the remaining edges are in the structured result. Change the note so it does not point to structured content when the size cap drops it.

only still-valid issues, skip the rest with a brief reason, keep changes
minimal, and validate.

Review comment at @packages/opencode/src/altimate/mcp-server/server.ts at line
93:
Update the lineage overflow note associated with the structuredResult size check
so it does not claim remaining edges are in structured content when the
capReport path drops that content. In the capped case, direct users to the
available text output; preserve the existing note when structured content is
retained.

not changing; recorded as R15 on the review log. Awaiting an attempt that is still starting would hold the stdio server's shutdown for a whole dbt parse. The in-flight adapter is disposed when its start settles, if the process is still alive. A process that exits first leaves that start to end on its own, as before this PR: the base disposed nothing on shutdown.

[SUGGESTION]: The read-only path never fills this cache, so every dbt_lineage call re-reads the config.

dbtProjectRoot is assigned only inside ensureDbtAdapter (line 108). A read-only MCP or tool-cli process never starts the adapter, so dbtAdapter stays undefined and this falls through to dbt-tools/config.read() on every call that has no manifest_path. With no dbt.json, read() walks the tree and discoverPython() then runs up to three blocking execFileSync probes for the Python binary - synchronous work on the stdio server's event loop, once per call. Cache the root read here too so repeated calls do not re-probe.

not changing in this PR; disclosed as R14. The probe is which python3 (execFileSync of which, 5 s timeout), not Python, and only when the project has no local .venv. Measured on this head over stdio: a warm read-only call took 12 ms. Caching the root in getDbtProjectRoot for a read-only process is a reasonable follow-up.

try {
const config = dbtAdapterInternals.readConfig
? await dbtAdapterInternals.readConfig()
: await (await import("../../../../../dbt-tools/src/config")).read()

SUGGESTION: This re-reads the dbt config that ensureDbtAdapter already read, and read() is not free.

On the fallback path the config is read twice: once at lines 100-105 and again here. When no dbt.json exists, read() walks up from cwd and discoverPython() may spawn which/where synchronously (up to four 5 s timeouts), per dbt_lineage call — on the exact path every call takes until the integration release ships. adapterTypeFromManifest (lines 197-212) repeats the same read and the same path.join(projectRoot, "target", "manifest.json"). Cache the resolved config (or project root) next to dbtAdapter in ensureDbtAdapter and have all three consumers share it; that also collapses the three copies of the dbt-tools dynamic import.

fixed in 6dc6c60: getDbtProjectRoot reuses the root the settled adapter attempt read, so the fallback doesn't read the config again, and the manifest it reads belongs to the adapter's project. Test: "reuses the project root the adapter attempt read" (one config read).

const root = (config as { projectRoot?: unknown } | null)?.projectRoot
return typeof root === "string" ? root : undefined
} catch {
return undefined
}
