P2: Promise.race stops waiting but leaves authorize.callback() running, so a browser response can still exchange tokens and persist credentials after the CLI reports cancellation. Propagate cancellation into the callback or prevent its post-cancel side effects.

Minor: cancel abandons the in-flight callback, so a plugin that persists inside callback() can still save after "Sign-in canceled."

When SIGINT wins the race, authorize.callback() keeps running. The Altimate LLM Gateway plugin exchanges the login token and calls AltimateApi.saveCredentials() inside its callback (src/altimate/plugin/altimate.ts around 488-506). Suppose Ctrl+C lands after the browser redirect but before that exchange and save finish. The CLI prints "Sign-in canceled." and fails with 130, but store.dispose(ctx) and Telemetry.shutdown() (which has up to a 10 s budget) both run before process.exit(), so the save can still complete and the user ends up signed in. The old spinner hard-exited on Ctrl+C and cut that save off, so this PR lengthens the window.

Suggested follow-up: pass an AbortSignal (or an optional cancel()) into the OAuth callback contract and have the gateway plugin skip the save once it is aborted. Until then, describe it as "the CLI saves no credential" instead of "no credential is saved".

Not blocking: it needs Ctrl+C in the sub-second gap after consent has already finished in the browser. The stored credential is the one the user approved, and nothing is lost or corrupted.

Minor (pre-existing): a failed browser sign-in still exits 0.

result.type === "failed" logs "Failed to authorize", falls through to outro("Done"), and exits 0. The code-paste branch (line 162) does the same. The PR body already lists this as out of scope. I'm noting it here so the follow-up has an anchor, for example return yield* fail("Failed to authorize").

Not blocking: pre-existing and acknowledged.

SUGGESTION: Extract the duplicated result-persist block shared by the three auth methods

The result.type === "failed" / result.type === "success" -> put(...) -> Login successful block now appears three times in this function (auto at 129-152, code at 162-185, api at 212-224), and this PR is a direct consequence of that drift: the auto branch was still calling spinner.stop(...) while code/api had already moved to Prompt.log.*, so the spinner-removal had to be hand-applied here. A single applyAuthResult(result, provider) helper would have made this a one-line change and keeps the next credential/exit-code change from silently landing in only one method.

SUGGESTION: The new global exit-code rule also re-codes learn's declined-promotion path

Setting the default before FormatError means any CliError with an explicit exitCode now wins. The only other producer is cli/cmd/learn.ts:927 (fail("Cancelled.", 130)), which fires when the user answers no to a promotion prompt - that path changes 1 -> 130 here even though nothing was interrupted, and automation commonly treats 130 as SIGINT. The existing coverage (test/altimate/learn/cli.test.ts:810) only asserts not.toBe(0), so a regression back to 1 would go unnoticed. Worth pinning the intended code in that test, or documenting why a declined answer reports 130.

Minor: this reorder also changes learn's cancel exit code from 1 to 130, and no test covers it.

Only two callers pass a non-default exit code: providers.ts:127 (new) and src/cli/cmd/learn.ts:927 (fail("Cancelled.", 130)). Every other fail() and new CliError(...) site uses 1 or leaves it out, so those are unchanged. A non-CliError error still exits 1, and it now also exits 1 if FormatError itself throws (before, the exit code stayed unset). The learn change is the intended fix. A small test would lock it in: a CliError with exitCode: 130 that reaches this catch should exit 130.

Not blocking: the gap is test-only, and the behaviour change is intended.

SUGGESTION: This PTY setup duplicates test/fixture/pty-tui.ts without its teardown and fail-fast hardening

Spawn + onData accumulation + the onExit promise + poll-until-text already exist in launchTui's session wrapper (waitForText, sendKey("Ctrl-C"), exited, and a dispose() that escalates SIGTERM -> SIGKILL and awaits exit). launchTui itself cannot be used as-is because it appends a project positional that would land in auth login [target], but extracting that session wrapper would avoid the divergence here: the local poll loop at line 82 has no child-exit check, so a CLI that dies before printing WAITING burns the full 60 s and then reports never printed (the harness fails fast with the captured output), and finally { child.kill() } neither awaits exit nor escalates to SIGKILL, which is exactly the orphaned-child leak dispose() was written to prevent on CI.

Wait for the SIGINT listener before signaling.

providers.ts prints WAITING before untilSigint installs its listener. If the child is descheduled between those operations, either test can signal too early and fail without Sign-in canceled. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Publish a readiness marker after listener registration and wait for it in both tests. For example, the fake callback can schedule a marker with setImmediate before returning its pending promise.

As per coding guidelines, wait on a “published readiness signal,” not timing.

Update both cancellation tests that wait for WAITING to wait for a readiness
marker published only after the SIGINT listener is registered. Arrange for the
fake callback to publish that marker after listener registration, and signal the
child only after the marker is observed.
