   What in original intention it is supposed to catch? I guess in ideal world

   Idk about where and when there is (none), I guess something like author (none) 1778562996 +0200\n

   Is there something else?

   So, if my guesses are right, ignoring invalid email syntax /^author ([(]none[)]|.*<.*(localhost|localdomain)>)/ can be used:

   • catch author strings
   • on my machine name starts right after space after author
   • check for (none) OR check for email that ends with localhost or localdomain

   I written this reading awk tutorial, and didn't check for "true awk" compatibility, if it's needed
