) Windows strips trailing dots and spaces from the last component of the path, so os.stat('spam.bat ') opened the same file as os.stat('spam.bat'), but did not set the execute permissions in st_mode, because the extension did not match. They are now ignored, unless the \\?\ prefix disables the path normalization.
…GH-155632) CharacterData was not mentioned at all, although Text, Comment and CDATASection inherit from it. Document also DocumentFragment, Entity and Notation, many implemented members which were omitted, the node type constants and the exception code constants. Add class directives for all documented interfaces, so that references to them resolve, and remove xml.dom.rst from the nit-picky mode exceptions. Fix incorrect statements about nodeName, NodeList.item(), CDATASection and attribute nodes, and describe minidom specific differences in the minidom documentation.
Node.insertBefore(), Node.removeChild() and Node.replaceChild() raise NotFoundErr, not ValueError. Element.removeAttribute() and Element.removeAttributeNS() raise NotFoundErr if there is no matching attribute, which contradicts the DOM, so this is documented as a deviation in the minidom documentation.
* The factory methods now raise InvalidCharacterErr if the name is not a valid XML name. * Inserting or setting a node created by another document now raises WrongDocumentErr. * Setting an attribute node which belongs to another element now raises InuseAttributeErr. * Inserting a node into itself or its descendant now raises HierarchyRequestErr. * A document can have only one element child and only one document type child, and a document fragment can no longer have notation children. * Removing an absent attribute now has no effect instead of raising NotFoundErr. * Attributes defaulted in the DTD are no longer omitted when parsing, and Attr.specified now reports whether the attribute was given in the start tag. This needs the new pyexpat method GetSpecifiedAttributeCount(). * EntityReference nodes and Document.createEntityReference() are now implemented. * The exceptions required by the DOM are now documented, and minidom specific differences are described in the minidom documentation. The names documented in the "Objects in the DOM" section are interfaces from the DOM specification, not classes provided by the xml.dom module.
