Filebrowser: Improve Visual Feedback #130

Description

@F3l1x1vo

Some processes don't show an indication of something happening. Go through the whole filebrowser and see where that might be the case and change it.

  • The dim overlay for when the file explorer is loading is not covering the entire component when you scroll down in a long list of files. It just covers the first screen.
  • The actions and column bar at the top doesn't stay in position when scrolling.
  • Clicking on a file (this selects it) and then on a folder shouldn't select the folder and turn on multiselect but instead navigate into the folder.

    • I think we can show use the same style for the < and > in the pagination component. currenlty it just shows them as disabled. So removing the background of the > button would be sufficient.
    Image
    • Remove rename. i dont think that we will support it, currently its just taking up space.
    • Maybe we can enhance this by using chips instead of pure text to show the original file size and that its truncated. Colors are a fast indicator instead of muted text.
    Image
    • in a csv preview, highlighting the currently hovered row is good ux. currently there is no on-hover behaviour.
    • in a text file preview, if the message is too short, the background is aligned to the texts height instead of filling the modal body

    • maybe we should show this message in the center. currently its algined to the top of the modal.
    Image
    • i think we can further enhance this delete modal by making the Delete Confirm Button an btn-outline. this way we have a clear on-hover that fills the button red. this further improves the ux to show that you're attempting to confirm the delete. Currently the contrast for the on-hover on the current button variant only applies a mild contrast.

The path in the recent-files and recent-locations should also have a onclick that resolves to the path. currently its just text.

i think this text is not correct for the dashboard view.

the table for the recent-files/recent-locations seems to be directly on top of the background. however i think we should place it inside of a card.

    • we need also a tooltip on the pinned-access. similar to the bucket list below.
    Image
    • the tooltip for the "Show all Buckets" is to the left. however to keep it consistent, we should align it to the right side.
    • the icon for the "Show All Buckets" has a very small hover effect. i think we can improve this by changing the color of the icon itself too.

when nothing is selected, all actions are disabled. however, the delete action button does not change when its disabled. its always shown as red.

currently we show an icon infront of the bucket name in the StorageBreadCrumb, however, I think it does not fit there. maybe instead a / would already be sufficient

In the filebrowser, an on-hover for the currenlty hovered row should be added.

I disagree, it's helpful knowing the full path including the bucket name. I understand you can already see which bucket you're in by it being highlighted in the bucket list but I do think it helps to have it all in one place. If I were to upload a file via s3cmd, I see the path right there, including the bucket's name.

I think that we should replace the vertical dots with horizontal ones. This makes the button slightly bigger and also is consistent with the behaviour in the file browser

Maybe replace the files & folders with Badges that have the amount and an icon after it. Also these should be probably soft or outlined badges. similar to this, just with flipped around syntax.:

    • Scale the image preview to fill the modal window
    • Show the pixel count either at the top or bottom with the rest of the modal controls
    • Make sure that the application uses CSS scrollbar properties that work with both Firefox and Chrome (and Safari, etc.)
