This is a cleanup pass to prep these files for further features. This pass mostly removes dead code, modernizes styling, and changes some asserts to assertions. Note that the newer briefing editor in #7338 not use the render widget like old FRED does so all of the briefing code here is removed.
Also moves some structs to more permanent places.
