Walkthrough

Adds a dependency-free STE100 checker for Markdown prose and source comments. The checker supports CLI and Claude Code hook modes. GitHub Actions runs its tests and checks changed code comments and annotations. Contributor guidance and a Claude Code skill describe STE100 rules and rewrite constraints.

The STE100 checker can mis-split sentences after single-letter initials. It can also silently skip changed files when a developer's Git diff settings differ from the defaults. The skill instructions have small gaps in file selection and in rewrite scope. These affect writing-lint tooling only and are low risk, but fixing them before merge would make the checker more reliable.

Full details: Security Check

Explanation

No concrete OWASP-relevant security regression is introduced. The checker only parses text and reads selected files. It does not evaluate repository content or build dynamic commands. Its Git calls use execFileSync with argument arrays. The new workflow runs on pull_request with contents: read, persist-credentials: false, and no secrets or write permissions. Hook input is JSON-parsed and unsupported input returns without action.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 28.57% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 35 functions across 2 files. (6 skipped: 6 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Include untracked files in the default input.

git diff --name-only main omits untracked files. If the current change adds a new file, the skill can skip it entirely. Include untracked files, for example with git ls-files --others --exclude-standard.

Limit findings to the requested text.

The checker scans the entire file, but step 4 prohibits rewriting untouched paragraphs. For example, an unchanged paragraph in CLAUDE.md line 50 contains the banned word via. The skill cannot clear that error without violating step 4. Filter findings to the requested or changed paragraphs, and apply the completion condition to those findings.

Fix the initials check: it tests a lowercased word against [A-Z].

lastWord is lowercased on line 585, so /^[A-Z]$/ on line 587 never matches. A single initial still ends a sentence. For example, See A. Turing for the proof. splits after A..

Set explicit diff prefixes in gitDiff.

parseAddedRanges removes only a b/ prefix from the +++ path. With diff.mnemonicPrefix=true, Git writes w/ for the working-tree side of git diff <ref> and i/ for git diff --cached. The file key keeps that prefix. main then calls existsSync(full) on the prefixed path, so it skips the file. --changed and --staged report no findings and exit 0.

A configured diff.external tool can also replace the unified diff. The parser then finds no +++ or @@ lines, so no file is checked.

Pass explicit prefixes and --no-ext-diff. Explicit --src-prefix and --dst-prefix override the prefix config, so the parser receives the same format on every machine.
