App closes on start up

Hello,

I recently installed DevSwitch 1.0 from F-Droid on my Samsung Galaxy A07 (SM-A075F/DS), running Android 16 and One UI 8.5.

Unfortunately, when I tap the DevSwitch icon, the app opens for a moment and then immediately closes.

I worked through the problem with ChatGPT, and we were able to find an Android crash message indicating that DevSwitch is having a problem with its network discovery function.

I have not changed or modified the app, and my phone is not rooted. Shizuku and Wireless Debugging are working correctly on my phone.

I understand that DevSwitch is a new project, so I thought I should report this in case the problem is specific to Android 16 on a physical device.

If you need any additional information or logs from my phone, I would be happy to provide them.

Hi Thomas, thanks for the clear report, and sorry about that.

You have found the bug exactly: the 1.0 build on F-Droid crashes on launch because the INTERNET permission was removed shortly before release, and Android's network service discovery (the part that finds adb devices on your network) refuses to start without it. It is not specific to your phone, Android 16 or One UI; every install of 1.0 from F-Droid does this. The app never connects to the internet, but the system requires the permission for local discovery.

1.0.1 fixes it. It is already merged into F-Droid's metadata and will appear in the F-Droid client once their build server runs, usually within a day or two. If you would rather not wait, the same signed build is on GitHub and updates in place over the F-Droid install:
