Composer 0.31.0's family ships three new commands, keyed by the path each is meant to mount at. The shell mounts them there: - dev url and dev stop under dev, which is now a command and a group - emulator list under a new emulator group, whose brief and description say what an emulator is All three are excluded from the real-API e2e rule: they talk to local emulators, never the management API, and Composer's own integration tests run them against real emulators. A new mount test runs them through the shell against Composer's operations double: a piped dev url prints the bare URL and dev stop prints nothing. The READMEs, the CLI's AGENTS.md and the platform skill name the new commands. The @prisma/composer-cli and @prisma/composer pins move to 0.31.0 in a separate commit once it is published. … is pinned) prisma/composer#365 gives emulator list six tab-separated fields per instance: emulator kind, instance id, URL, state, node address and directory. The installed 0.31.0 preview predates it and writes nothing, so the case is skipped; unskip it once the published 0.31.0 is pinned. …> 0.31.0; @prisma/composer 0.30.0 -> 0.31.0 0.31.0 is the release that ships dev url, dev stop and emulator list. Moved with scripts/update-product-versions.mjs. The emulator list pipe test is unskipped: 0.31.0 prints one line per instance with six tab-separated fields, kind, id, URL, state, node address and directory. It said an instance keeps its port and data until it is deleted, but no command deletes one. Instances and their data stay until 'prisma dev --fresh' removes the current app's, and a stopped instance keeps its port. The brief quotes 'prisma dev' the way the other groups quote command names. Its one finding (the placeholder in the skill example) was fixed in a74bd00, and CodeRabbit confirmed the fix in the thread.

The
prismabinary gains three commands from Composer 0.31.0:prisma dev url <address>prints where one part of your local app answers.prisma dev stopstops your local app.prisma emulator listshows everything the machine's local emulators are running. The first two sit under
prisma dev. The third gets a newemulatorgroup.prisma dev module.tskeeps working exactly as before. Why
prisma devruns a Composer app on your machine with no Prisma account. Until now, nothing told scripts, docs or agents where a service ended up. Composer's getting-started page hard-codescurl localhost:3001, which is only right when nothing else holds that port and the services start in a particular order. These commands let them ask. What the commands act on
Composer's help defines three terms the commands rely on:
catalog.database.prisma devends.dev urlanddev stopact on the app thatprisma devlast ran from the current directory, so they belong underdev.dev urlprints a service's HTTP URL, a database's connection string, or a bucket's S3 address.dev stopstops the app's services and Postgres servers and keeps their data. It also cleans up after aprisma devthat was killed before it could stop the app.emulator listisn't about one app. The emulators are shared by everyprisma devon the machine, so the list shows instances from every directory, each labelled with the directory and address that started it. That's why it gets a group of its own, whose help explains what an emulator is.How
devholds both a command and subcommandsprisma devis now both a command (prisma dev module.ts) and a group with subcommands (prisma dev url). The CLI engine supports that since 0.9.0. A subcommand's name wins over the entry argument, soprisma dev urlalways runs the subcommand. To pass an entry file literally namedurl, writeprisma dev -- url.Output in a pipe
These follow the CLI's rule that a piped stdout gets plain data and JSON needs
--json:dev urlprints the bare URL.dev stopprints nothing, and the exit code is the result.emulator listprints one line per instance, with six tab-separated fields: emulator kind, instance id, URL, state, node address and directory.Versions
@prisma/composer-cliand@prisma/composermove from 0.30.0 to 0.31.0, the release that ships these commands. Composer 0.31.0 still declares a dependency on CLI engine 0.7.0 while this binary ships 0.9.0. The conformance check already allows that mismatch.Tests
tests/composer-mount.test.ts(new) mounts Composer's commands at these paths, against Composer's stand-in operations. It checks that:dev url gatewayprints the bare URL;dev stopprints nothing;emulator listprints one six-field line per instance;prisma dev --helplistsurlandstop.mount-coverage.test.tsexpects the three new paths.e2e-coverage.test.tsexempts the three commands from the rule that every command has a real-API end-to-end test. They only talk to local emulators, never the management API. Composer's own integration tests run them against real emulators.--detachreturned once the app was up.dev urlprinted URLs that answered, including a database URL thatpsqlqueried.emulator listworked in a terminal, piped and with--json.dev stopclosed the ports.check:grammar,check:skill-packaging,check:conformanceand Biome pass. The READMEs,
packages/cli/AGENTS.mdand the platform skill name the new commands.Alternatives considered
prisma emulator url <address>. A URL belongs to a node of the app run from this directory, not to an emulator. Putting it underemulatorwould make people think about the machinery rather than their app.prisma url. It's ambiguous once deployed services also have URLs, whichprisma service openhandles. Underdev, it's clear the URL is local.prisma dev startalongsideprisma dev stop. Starting isprisma dev <entry>itself, with--detachto return once every service answers. A separatestartwould be a second way to do the same thing.Agent: attila-51
