Repository navigation
feat(source-control): add Tangled support - #18694
T3 Code could not use Tangled repositories as a built-in source control provider. This adds repository publishing, cloning, pull request creation, and pull request links and details through the installed tg CLI.
Changes
Register the Tangled workspace package, server driver, shared client definition, icons, and settings across web, desktop, and mobile.
Discover tg on PATH and expose knot/appview settings, defaulting to knot1.tangled.sh and https://api.tangled.org.
Support repository creation, clone URLs, default branch discovery, duplicate-safe PR creation, current-branch PR lookup, and PR list/detail/summary/activity reads.
Support tg v0.8.0 and the org.tangled lexicons. Numeric ticket keys supply PR numbers directly, including gaps between PRs; legacy record keys retain page-based numbering reconciliation.
Preserve expired-session, changed-OAuth-permission, and missing-tool errors with recovery guidance.
Keep the branch panel on the current branch's PR when a thread still has an older linked PR, and show unavailable comments when the CLI returns counts without comment bodies.
Comment bodies, reviews, commits, diffs, checks, numeric PR checkout, and mutation actions after creation remain unavailable.
Verification
vp run check:changed passed: formatting, lint, unused patches, knip, GraphQL generation, affected package typechecks, 124 tests across eight files, and React Compiler checks for the three changed client files.
Regression cases failed before the compatibility fixes and passed afterward for the API endpoint, OAuth permission changes, and numeric PR keys with gaps and duplicate titles.
Built and installed upstream tg v0.8.0. Live adapter reads decoded aly.codes/tg, listed 37 PRs, and read merged PR Effect persistence layer #83 through the new lexicons without an HTML lookup.
The current environment is signed out, so authenticated writes were not retested. Earlier live verification covered PR creation and current-branch lookup; evidence is below. Native mobile behavior and a production desktop build were not verified.
Macroscope's review found this PR not approvable — This PR adds a substantial Tangled source-control integration spanning server operations, client registration, URL detection, pull-request numbering, and UI behavior, while also introducing new product defaults. Unresolved correctness findings affect repository creation and pull-request discovery, so the change requires human review.

Walkthrough
This pull request adds Tangled as a source-control integration, including repository operations and read-only pull-request data. It also changes branch-panel pull-request selection and the messages shown for truncated comments.
The shared definition and registry recognize Tangled hosts and pull-request URLs. Package and workspace configuration, client tests, and user documentation cover the integration.
CLI service and server registration packages/source-control-tangled/src/server/TangledCli.ts, packages/source-control-tangled/src/server/driver.ts, apps/server/package.json, apps/server/src/sourceControl/sourceControlDefinitions.ts
The CLI service runs tg with host settings and maps command and response errors. The Tangled driver is registered as a built-in server driver.
Repository and change-request operations packages/source-control-tangled/src/server/TangledSourceControlProvider.ts, packages/source-control-tangled/src/server/TangledSourceControlProvider.test.ts
The provider resolves repositories, checks owners, derives clone URLs, reads default branches, and lists or creates change requests. Tests cover these operations and error cases.
Pull-request numbering and read-only data packages/source-control-tangled/src/server/tangledPulls.ts, packages/source-control-tangled/src/server/tangledPulls.test.ts, packages/source-control-tangled/src/server/TangledPullRequestProvider.ts, packages/source-control-tangled/src/server/TangledPullRequestProvider.test.ts
The provider lists and reads pull requests, infers numbers from record keys or repository page rows, and returns details, summaries, and activity. Unsupported write and diff operations return errors.

Selecting Tangled for a private publish can create a public repository. Reject that request before merging. Mixed-format repositories can also lose PR listing, and the branch panel can hide linked PRs.
Security Architecture Review
Security architecture risk:🟠 High · up to be5a9
Publishing to Tangled can expose committed repository content publicly even when Private is selected. The new provider ignores requested visibility, while the publishing workflow proceeds to push the current branch.
Retained concerns
High · security · observed: The new provider silently downgrades private publishing to public publishing. The web dialog defaults to Private and describes it as accessible only to invited people. Tangled repository creation neither rejects that request nor enforces its visibility, and the server subsequently pushes the current branch. An authorized user can therefore disclose committed source and reachable history while requesting private publication. This exposure is introduced by adding Tangled to the existing publishing workflow; authenticated-owner validation does not prevent it.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The supported confidentiality exposure is the committed content and reachable history pushed from a selected workspace into a newly created public Tangled repository. Repeated authorized publishing can affect multiple workspaces accessible to the caller and Tangled account. This does not establish unauthenticated access, arbitrary uncommitted-file disclosure, or cross-tenant compromise.
Security Findings and Attack Paths
observed — The disclosure path does not require command injection: a user requests private publication, the provider creates a public repository without rejecting that request, and the shared workflow pushes content. The normal web dialog defaults to private; the new-project publishing hook also submits private visibility explicitly.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — Repository-controlled command values remain structured arguments, and PR-page requests are constructed under tangled.org. Configurable knot and appview endpoints instead come from saved settings and accept trimmed strings. Their credential-routing policy is delegated to tg and was not established by the inspected repository source; arbitrary endpoint support alone is not a demonstrated credential leak.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
inferred — Failure after external repository creation can leave the repository, and later failures can also leave a configured local remote. Removing the provider or retrying cannot be assumed to reverse public disclosure after a successful push. Confidentiality therefore needs enforcement before creation and push, rather than reliance on error recovery.
Hardening Proposals
proposed — Reject private Tangled publication on the server before any external mutation. Represent supported visibility as a provider capability so web and mobile flows cannot promise private publication for a public-only host, and require an explicit public choice before pushing existing committed content.

Keep numeric PR numbers out of the legacy offset fallback.
A valid repository can contain new numeric PR identifiers and pre-migration legacy record keys. When one legacy key makes tickets.every(...) false, numbered sends every entry through entry.index + offset. Numeric PRs with gaps then imply different offsets from the page rows, so offsetFromRows returns null and the provider reports that the repository cannot be listed by number. This is separate from the cache-read fix.
Preserve each numeric rkey as its PR number. Apply page reconciliation only to legacy entries, and fail rather than assign an offset when their numbers cannot be resolved.
