docs: define normative process runner contracts - #74
Document how callers choose capture, run and the optional captureResult capability through concise, implementer-independent contracts. The RST guide explains output/status/failure choices, adopts BCP 14 terminology once, and keeps concrete transport details separate. Signatures, namespaces, dependencies and runtime behavior remain unchanged.
All three timeout tags use the supported float type and retain the positive, finite constraint in their descriptions. This fixes the legacy positive-float annotation that native documentation rendering discarded.
Validation of signed HEAD 7b9f813651b7d848bd7d70361cdd3c7e186b5c1e, tree 25c2377b442af361073dd66d3fdf941a13bc11d5:
Independent exact-tree review clear; nine own paths, unchanged executable behavior, 25 reachable RST pages with no source-link/toctree orphans.
Own locked installation: 57 packages, no dependency updates or manifest/lock changes, plugins/scripts disabled.
Normal local composer check: 157 tests / 1,239 assertions / one explicit skip, with Composer strict/platform, syntax and ECS passing. The skip is the unavailable DOM-free-runtime probe on this PHP installation.
Fresh native phpDocumentor 3.10.0 with unchanged published template 2.2.2 renders all three timeout cards with float and the complete positive/finite description; semantic assertions pass.
Current-head hosted Quality, reusable check, Changelog and CodeQL pass. Golden ECS and the selected native Rector array-rule regression preserve descriptive PHPDoc, normative clauses and inheritance markers, including check/no-write and explicit-fix idempotence.
Separate private controls on phpDocumentor 3.9.1/3.10.0 still show a class-level inheritance limitation: method descriptions/throws can disappear although interface-to-interface inheritance works. That limitation is recorded rather than duplicated into implementation contracts. Source preservation and the three-card render qualification do not establish a full canonical documentation build or arbitrary consumer-rule safety.
Fresh Codex and CodeRabbit coverage of this HEAD remains required before merge. The previous CodeRabbit finding was fixed and evidence-linked; an addressed thread alone is not a new full review.

📝 Summary
Summary by CodeRabbit
Documentation
Added guidance on process execution outcomes, captured output, timeouts, working directories, environment variables, and error handling.
Clarified that captured commands are not sandboxed and may execute code or modify files.
Expanded API documentation with process contract details.
Tests
Added regression coverage for preserving normative interface documentation during array conversion and in the golden preset.
The PR documents ProcessRunner and ResultProcessRunner contracts, adds the process-contract page to the API documentation tree, and adds normative interface fixtures with formatter and Rector regression coverage.

Summary
Process runner contracts and documentation src/Process/ProcessRunner.php, src/Process/ResultProcessRunner.php, docs/process-contracts.rst, docs/api/index.rst, .changelog/normative-interface-contracts.md
Documents process output, status, argument, timeout, and failure behavior. Adds the process-contract page to the API documentation tree and records the changes in the changelog.
Adds interface and implementation fixtures with normative PHPDoc. Integration tests check preview and apply behavior, repeated-run stability, and inclusion in the golden-preset test.
Issue 1: The changes add normative PHPDoc documentation and formatter/Rector regression coverage, which overlap with the issue’s PHPDoc and refactoring-policy scope.
Possibly related PRs
php-fast-forward/code-standards#7: Introduced the ProcessRunner interface and native capture and run implementations, whose contracts this PR documents.
php-fast-forward/code-standards#15: Tests formatter preservation of descriptive PHPDoc and source contracts, related to the new preservation regression coverage.

Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue [#72] requires contracts for capture, run, and optional captureResult; summaries; preconditions, results, side effects, and failures; RFC 2119/8174 terminology; operation examples; and the non-sandbox limit. The inspected interfaces and docs/process-contracts.rst provide these items. The source keeps names, signatures, and runtime behavior unchanged. The supplied current-head evidence reports 157 tests and formatter/Rector regressions for read-only checks, explicit fixes, idempotence, documentation preservation, and inheritance markers. The remaining fresh review request is a non-coding review gate.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The reported changes support [#72]. They update interface PHPDoc, add the canonical process-contract guide and API toctree entry, add a changelog entry, and add focused formatter/Rector fixtures and tests. The guide uses a Rector JSON example only to describe generic output capture and states that result capture does not parse ECS/Rector reports. No structured ECS/Rector payload or CLI JSON implementation from [#10] is added. No unrelated runtime or dependency change is demonstrated.
Full details: Docstring Coverage
Explanation
Docstring coverage is 100.00% which is sufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 5 functions across 4 files. (5 skipped: 5 unsupported.)

A rabbit reads the contracts clear, stdout and stderr stay in their lane. The interface keeps its promise near, while formatter checks preserve the chain. One hop, one test, then no more change.
