its not able to make tool calls properly ive tried with mimo 2.5, mimo 2.6 flash, qwen 3.8 omni flash, GLM 5.3 flash.

It seems commandcode didn't like a way plugin worked with api.
I assume, they corrupt tools info and/or calls so people blame not commandcode itself, but agents and/or plugin authors

Couldn't do tool calls too, but with DeepSeek V4.1 Flash it produced something different:

Fixed in pi-commandcode-provider@0.7.2 / GitHub release v0.7.2.

The cause was in this provider: since pi 0.86, the /alpha/generate fallback (used when the Provider API answers upgrade_required, for example on the Go plan) sent no tool declarations and no system prompt, so models wrote tool calls as plain text. Update with pi update --extensions and restart pi.
