Summary

charly candy params plugin-media --check — the drift gate this repo's candy binds and its CI runs — FAILS on
main
: the committed projection still carries the older json:-only struct-tag shape, while the pinned
generator (charly's provisioned cue v0.16.1, cue exp gengotypes) emits both yaml: and
json: tags. This PR is the regeneration: the committed projection is replaced with exactly what
the schema generates, tag for tag.

 candy/plugin-media/params/cue_types_gen.go | 10 +++++-----
 1 file changed, 5 insertions(+), 5 deletions(-)

No hand edits: the file is the generator's output, byte for byte.

The branch was preserved during a branch/worktree backlog cleanup and is being upstreamed unchanged: its
own commit is bafd144848fcc6b8c2a937cf63517418303e69a9 — authored before this session, never amended, rewritten or force-pushed. It was already
on origin at that commit, so opening this PR required no push of its own. If the base has since moved, main
was merged into the branch with gh pr update-branch — a merge, never a rebase, and it adds no content of its
own.

How tested

Own gate, PR head — rc=0:

$ charly -C <root>/.worktrees/drift-106/plugin-media candy params plugin-media --check
rc=0

Negative control, base — rc=1, which is the defect this PR removes. The base-side command runs against origin/main's blob (8d77fa9), because the local
checkout sits on an older pin and the question is about the BASE, not the pin.

$ charly -C <root>/plugin-media candy params --schema candy/plugin-media/schema --pkg params --out /tmp/main.go --check
charly: error: command "candy": ... is STALE: it differs from what .../schema generates — run `charly candy params plugin-media` and commit the result
rc=1

Repo-declared build gate (AGENTS.md), same head — all rc=0:

$ (cd candy/plugin-media && go build ./...)
rc=0
$ (cd candy/plugin-media && gofmt -l .)
rc=0
$ (cd candy/plugin-media && go vet ./...)
rc=0
$ (cd candy/plugin-media && go test ./...)
ok  	github.com/opencharly/plugin-media/candy/plugin-media	0.511s
rc=0
$ charly -C <worktree> box validate
charly box validate: OK — checked 1 candy, 7 distros, 7 builders; 0 warnings, 0 errors
rc=0

Rulebook compliance

  • R0 — skills loaded before the first git/PR action (git-workflow), and this repo's own AGENTS.md read first: its Build / validate / test section is the gate pasted above.
  • R1 — no finding to classify: every command above returns 0 with zero warnings; the base-side rc=1 is the defect this PR removes, and it is fixed here rather than filed.
  • R2 — no duplication: the projection is generated from candy/plugin-media/schema/*.cue by the one generator (charly candy params); nothing hand-written is added beside it.
  • R3 — no workaround: no hand edit, no suppression, no retry, no dual shape — the file is the generator's own output and the gate is the same command CI runs.
  • R4 — product before prose: no documentation is changed to route around anything; the artifact is corrected at its source (schema → generated file).
  • R5 — legacy deleted completely: the stale shape is replaced wholesale, with no shim and no compatibility path left behind.
  • R6 — git status was read first; the branch already stood at this exact SHA on origin, so nothing was pushed, amended, rewritten or force-pushed; main is untouched and no other session's work is edited.
  • R7 — the check FAILS without the change and passes with it (rc=1 at the base, rc=0 at the head — both pasted), and the emitted artifact is validated at its actual boundary: the same generator that writes the file is the one that judges it.
  • R8 — N/A — no live service boundary is crossed: the change is a generated Go type projection, and nothing here is mocked, stubbed or faked.
  • R9 — N/A — no binary is rebuilt and no runtime OS dependency is added; the diff touches only the generated projection (and, where noted, a test or the candy's own plan:).
  • R10 — not run, and not claimed: no disposable: true bed was run in this round. For a generated-projection regeneration the owning gate is the drift check pasted above; this body claims syntax check only, not a live validation.

Change classification

Generated artifact; no hand edits. candy/plugin-media/params/cue_types_gen.go is produced by charly candy params plugin-media from candy/plugin-media/schema/*.cue, and this PR commits the generator's current output. There is no schema
change, no capability change, no label change and no runtime dependency.

Rollback: git revert the commit on this branch — the previous projection returns and the drift gate goes back
to failing, which is precisely the state main is in today. Nothing to migrate, no data, no consumers to coordinate.

Assisted-by: DeepSeek Harness deepseek-v4.1-flash (syntax check only)

`charly candy params plugin-media --check` reports that candy/plugin-media/params/cue_types_gen.go does not match
what candy/plugin-media/schema generates. Regenerated by that verb, diff 5/5, all of it the retag step adding
yaml: struct tags beside the json: ones.

Gates: charly candy params plugin-media --check -> is current; go build ./... -> rc=0.

What the diff actually is

One file, candy/plugin-media/params/cue_types_gen.go, five struct-tag lines changed on the TranscodeInput type. Each change prepends a yaml:"<field>,omitempty" tag to the existing json:"<field>,omitempty" tag, leaving the JSON half byte-identical:

  • SourceArtifact, To, Artifact, ArtifactMinBytes, ArtifactNotUniform — all five go from json:-only to yaml: + json:, same field name, same omitempty.

That matches the body's claim exactly ("the older json:-only struct-tag shape" → "emits both yaml: and json: tags"), and matches the stated stat line +5/-5 and "1 changed file".

Correctness

  • The diff is internally consistent: field names in the yaml: tag mirror the Go field's snake_case convention and the existing json: tag, so a decoder reading either tag gets the same key. No field gains/loses a tag, no type changes, no logic changes.
  • It is a pure generated-artifact regeneration; nothing in the diff contradicts the "generated, no hand edits" classification (the shape is uniform and mechanical across all five fields, which is what a tag-emitting generator produces).
  • No schema, capability, label, or runtime dependency is touched — the body says so, and the diff confirms it.

Honesty of the body

  • File count (1), insert/delete counts (+5/−5), and the changed file path all agree with the diff.
  • The body is careful about what it did not do: R10 explicitly states no disposable: true bed was run and that the claim is "syntax check only" — that is a self-limiting, honest claim rather than an overreach.
  • The pasted evidence is plausible for a tag-only regeneration: go build/gofmt -l/go vet/go test all rc=0, and the drift gate (candy params --check) rc=0 at head vs rc=1 at base. The base-side rc=1 being run against origin/main's blob is explained and is the correct control.
  • R9's parenthetical "and, where noted, a test or the candy's own plan:" is slightly loose, since no test or plan is changed here — but it is hedged and the diff does not claim otherwise, so it is not a contradiction, just leftover boilerplate.

Tests

  • No test is added, and none is needed: the artifact is generated, and the governing test is the drift gate (candy params --check), which is exactly the check the body pastes as failing at base and passing at head. That is a check that fails without the change — the required coverage for a generated-file regeneration.
  • go test ./... passing at head confirms the tag change does not break the existing package tests.

Security

  • Struct-tag addition only. No secrets, no input handling, no privilege, no new dependency, no injection surface. Nil risk.

Scope & cleanliness

  • Coherent and complete: the stale json:-only shape is replaced wholesale, no shim, no compatibility path, no duplicate tag forms left behind. Single-commit, single-file, generated-output scope.

Comments

  • <comment_thread> is empty (0 comments). No maintainer sign-off exists, so per the authorship rule the change must stand on its own evidence — and it does: the diff is self-evidently a correct, minimal, generator-shaped regeneration, and the body's claims are all reproduced by it.

Verdict rationale

The change does exactly what the body says, the counts and file path are accurate, the body's evidence claims are internally consistent and not overstated, the governing drift check is the correct test and is pasted as failing-then-passing, and there is nothing to fault on security or cleanliness. No blocks.

Verdict: PASS

What the diff is

One file, candy/plugin-media/params/cue_types_gen.go. Five struct-tag lines on TranscodeInput change from json:"…,omitempty" to yaml:"…,omitempty" json:"…,omitempty":

  • SourceArtifact, To, Artifact, ArtifactMinBytes, ArtifactNotUniform.

The JSON half of every tag is byte-identical; only a yaml: prefix is added, and the yaml key mirrors the field's existing snake_case json key. No type, logic, or field-name change. This matches the body's stated stat line (+5/-5, 1 file) and its classification ("older json:-only shape" → "both yaml: and json: tags") exactly.

Correctness

  • The two hunks (@@ -32,23 @@ and @@ -57,5 @@) together span the entire struct body: the first field's doc comment starts at line 32, and the closing } is the last line of the second hunk. Every field in TranscodeInput is accounted for and all five are updated — the regeneration is internally complete for this type.
  • The shape is uniform and mechanical across all five fields, which is what a tag-emitting generator produces, consistent with the "generated, no hand edits" claim.
  • No schema, capability, label, or dependency is touched, as the body states.

Honesty of the body

  • File count (1), +5/-5, and the changed path all agree with the diff.
  • Commit bafd144848fc… matches the first commit; head be9f3f816170… matches the merge commit, and the merge adds no content (only one file in the diff), consistent with "a merge, never a rebase… adds no content of its own."
  • R10 is honestly self-limiting: "not run, and not claimed… claims syntax check only." Good.
  • R9's parenthetical "and, where noted, a test or the candy's own plan:" is loose (no test/plan is changed), but it is hedged and the diff does not contradict it — leftover boilerplate, not a false claim.
  • The base-side negative control uses a slightly different invocation (--schema … --out /tmp/main.go --check) than the head gate; the body explains it as a base-blob comparison, which is a reasonable control.

Tests

  • No unit test is added, and none is required: the governing check is the drift gate (candy params --check), which the body pastes as rc=1 at base and rc=0 at head. That is precisely a check that fails without the change and passes with it. go test ./... at head confirms the tag change does not break existing tests. This is adequate coverage for a generated-file regeneration.

Security

  • Struct-tag additions only. No secrets, no input-handling change beyond aligning YAML keys with the schema's snake_case names, no privilege, no new dependency, no injection surface. Nil risk.

Scope & cleanliness

  • Coherent and complete: the stale shape is replaced wholesale, no shim, no compatibility path, no duplicate tag forms. Single-file generated-artifact scope.

Comments dispositioned

  • Comment 6562656236 by @github-actions[bot] (an automated action, not a designated maintainer → not a sign-off). Its substantive analysis is correct and matches my re-derivation: one file, five tag lines, JSON half unchanged, generated shape, drift gate as the governing test. One internal inaccuracy: it states the comment thread is "empty (0 comments)" — false, since its own comment is present. That is a self-referential artifact of the bot's snapshot, not a defect in the PR, and does not change the outcome. No maintainer sign-off exists for this run, so the change must stand on its own evidence — and it does.

Verdict rationale

The diff does exactly what the body claims; the counts, path, and commits are accurate; the body's evidence claims are internally consistent and appropriately bounded; the governing drift check is the correct test and is presented as failing-then-passing; and there is nothing to fault on security, scope, or cleanliness. No blocks.

Verdict: PASS
