connector materializer: an installed package's package-relative providerConfig file ref is read from the HOST's package root, so an install-local app can bind the host's own file (measured: it materialized ready with the host's OpenAPI document) #28534
Filing gate: ① a product defect with a named location, finding class (b) (contract text vs runtime). Found by the os-dev on #28505 (PR #28533, report comment 6553750134) and re-read by this seat. Child of #27293 (E4: what an installed connector app reads). ⛔ Not a claim.
reach: public door — POST /api/v1/marketplace/install-local with an inline manifest whose provider: 'openapi' connector names providerConfig.spec: './src/system/connectors/status-openapi.json'. Measured by the dev at origin/main23d1303d against the showcase: the instance materialized ready on GET /api/v1/automation/connectors, carrying the HOST showcase's own document (its description and its getHealth action). A ref that names a file the host lacks fails instead with an ENOENT naming the host path.
The defect
Contract (packages/spec/src/integration/connector-provider.ts:326 and :344, read at origin/mainbff315cd): loadPackageFile / resolvePackagePath resolve a relative path "against the root of the stack/package that declared the entry".
Runtime (packages/services/service-automation/src/plugin.ts:2812 and :2815): every entry gets createPackageFileLoader(this.options.packageRoot) / createPackagePathResolver(this.options.packageRoot), which is the host's root, whichever package declared the entry. An install-local package has no root on disk, because the install caches the artifact JSON alone.
PR #28533 (once merged) means os build no longer emits a file ref for openapispec, so this defect remains reachable through old artifacts, hand-written manifests, and any future provider key that takes a file. resolvePackagePath was read but not measured.
Work (the dev's options; the dev recommended A)
A. At materialization, refuse a package-relative ref on an entry whose package was installed (not host-owned). Name the entry and say how to fix it ("rebuild with a current os build", or inline the document). The materializer needs a reader that tells host-owned from installed packages (the install ledger or the package registry's source). This is the framework lane, with no spec change if an existing reader answers.
B. The install writes carried files beside the cached JSON and stamps each item with its package root. This changes the artifact/manifest contract and needs the spec lane. It is a separate widening that A does not foreclose.
C. Leave it. The exposure is the cross-package read measured above, which this seat does not take as acceptable.
Tests: the dev's measured case (an installed entry naming a host file → refused, not ready), the host's own entry still reading its file (control), and a host-path ENOENT turned into the located refusal.
Business reason
An installed package must not be able to bind another package's files by guessing a path. Today the host's root is shared by every installed app, and a connector app from the shelf can silently run against a host document.
Reader
The triage seat grades and routes it (domain:server, service-automation); the epic PM of #27293 dispatches.

File surface: packages/services/service-automation/src/plugin.ts (createPackageFileLoader / createPackagePathResolver and the materializer call site that hands them to provider factories: a package-relative ref on an entry whose package was installed, not host-owned, is refused with the entry named and the rebuild/inline prescription — the card's route A), the read-only use of whatever existing reader tells host-owned from installed entries (package registry source, install ledger — read, not changed), their tests, a dogfood case over POST /api/v1/marketplace/install-local, content/docs/automation/connectors.mdx, a @objectstack/service-automation changeset. Route B (an installed package's own root on disk, the artifact/manifest contract) and any packages/spec/** edit are out of this claim: stop and report (stop on breach; explain in the report)
Container & model: M, mode:subagent, model: opus (TIER_DEFAULT — dispatch-gates --tier --repo objectstack-ai/objectstack this fire: no path-derived mandate), effort: xhigh (triage reads it as a boundary change; the seat adds a CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIER review of the boundary before landing)
Clause-②: no
Metadata-protocol: none
Responsibility: the materializer hands every connector entry createPackageFileLoader(this.options.packageRoot) / createPackagePathResolver(this.options.packageRoot) — the host's root — whichever package declared it (plugin.ts:2812/:2815), while ConnectorProviderContext.loadPackageFile promises the declaring package's root | an install-local package caches the artifact JSON alone and has no root on disk; no path tells host-owned from installed at that call site | every runtime that installs a package naming a package-relative file: measured binding the host's own OpenAPI document (#28505's dev at 23d1303d)
Thread-read: 6554177417
Premise: holds (read at origin/maina52191f6 2026-11-01T06:03Z: both calls at plugin.ts:2812 and :2815 pass this.options.packageRoot)
Serial constraints cleared: open PR #28515 (#27401, this seat, in the merge queue) adds one materializer branch to plugin.ts — it lands first or this branch merges origin/main; open PRs #28571 and #28554 (other seats) edit packages/cloud-connection/src/marketplace-install-local-plugin.ts, which this claim reads and does not edit; PR #28533 (#28505, this seat) edits packages/cli/** only — disjoint.

"summary": "MEASURED FIRST at a52191f6 through the real install-local door (dogfood harness: bootShowcase + POST /api/v1/marketplace/install-local + GET /api/v1/automation/connectors, service-automation built from BASE's plugin.ts): an installed openapi entry naming ./src/system/connectors/status-openapi.json listed `ready` carrying the showcase's own document (its description, action getHealth), and an installed stdio mcp entry naming ./scripts/mcp-fixture.mjs listed `ready` with the showcase's own echo_upper tool, so resolvePackagePath is reachable too. Route A, no packages/spec change: at the one ConnectorProviderContext call site in plugin.ts, installedDeclaringPackageOf(entry, registry) reads the objectql package registry row for the entry's _packageId and its `source` (stated by the registering door: install-local writes 'marketplace' at install and at every rehydrate; the host stack, multi-package artifact members and plugin packages write 'code'; no stamp, a stamp no row answers, or no registry = host, exactly as today), and an installed entry is handed createInstalledPackageRefRefusal for BOTH loadPackageFile and resolvePackagePath, which reject every ref naming the entry, its package, the ref and the remedy (reads: rebuild with a current `os build`, which carries an `openapi` spec file into the artifact, or inline the document; paths: use a transport that needs no package location). The throw takes the existing configuration-fault channel unchanged (fatal at boot, ERROR record + entry skipped on reload). PM mechanism assumptions: both members get the same rule and inline/URL specs are unaffected (confirmed); the boot does not fail (confirmed: installed entries arrive at kernel:ready after the only fatal reconcile, and a restart probe raised no boot error); the reason visible on GET /automation/connectors or a husk is DISPROVED for the existing channel: a fresh configuration fault on reload is logged and skipped, a held husk exists only for an already-degraded instance, and no new channel was added. Behaviour change to read before landing: every stdio mcp entry of an installed package is now refused whatever its command, because the mcp factory always asks resolvePackagePath('.').",

Claim amendment (this seat's claim 6554218344; the contract review 6554878186 FAILed PR #28587 at 2be3fd45). ⛔ The branch, worktree, seat and model are unchanged.
File surface (widened in this act): in addition to the claimed files,
packages/objectql/src/engine.ts: the collection-registration loop. A connector item, and any collection item, registered under ownerId must not keep a body-carried _packageId that differs from ownerId. The fix either overwrites it or refuses it the way permissionSetOwnerRegistrationRefusal refuses a permission set (review must-fix M1).
packages/objectql/src/plugin.ts (source ?? options?.source) or packages/cloud-connection/src/marketplace-install-local-plugin.ts: whichever is the narrower place to make an install-local install register every packages[] member as 'marketplace', whatever the entry states (must-fix M2).
Their tests.
Changesets for @objectstack/objectql / @objectstack/cloud-connection if touched.
packages/spec/** stays out of this claim (stop and report). Open PR #28554 (another seat) edits cloud-connection and metadata-protocol: ordinary concurrency, and the later lander merges origin/main.
Should-fixes carried into the same round: S1 (no bare "a stamp no row answers is the host's" default; host only for the residual owner the artifact names, or for no stamp) and S3 (the classifier's docblock says what it trusts). S2 is filed separately (stored or authored connector rows). S4 is already #28591.
Claim amendment 2 (this seat's claim 6554218344, first amendment 6554888326). The delta boundary review 6555831347 on PR #28587 at f8fa5255 judges M1, M2, S1 and S3 fixed. It FAILs on the declaration (must-fix D1). ⛔ Branch, worktree, seat and model unchanged.
Clause-②: no (narrowing) — was no. objectql now refuses a collection item whose body carries a _packageId other than its registering package's. That key is on the authorable surface (MetadataProtectionFields), so a value accepted before is refused now.
Metadata-protocol: narrowed — was none.
Changesets: @objectstack/objectql and @objectstack/cloud-connection at minor, each with one adr-0087: disposition and a FROM / TO prescription; @objectstack/service-automation stays patch. The dev runs the dogfood battery owed for a (narrowing) arm on the final head.
The seat rewrites the PR body and adds ! to its title once the final head is pushed (review should-fix S8). The build-door judge (should-fix S5, a packages/spec change) is filed as its own card.

Refuse, not overwrite, because the loop's other two body-against-key rules refuse (divergent view-container name, permission-set packageId) and the comment beside them records that a silent fix in either direction files the item under a key nobody wrote. The red at 7ea3d092 (engine-picklist nested-plugin case) was NOT the nested seam stamping within one registerApp call: measured, the test passes alone (1 passed | 24 skipped) and fails only after the file's earlier tests, because registerItem/stampPackage stamp the CALLER'S object in place and the module constant INDUSTRY was registered earlier under com.test.picklist.core by another engine. Narrowest rule that still refuses an install body: stamps a registration wrote onto a caller's object are recorded in a process-wide WeakMap where written and exempt; a stamp an object arrives with is refused. An install door always parses its body fresh, so an installed item can never be in that map. The picklist test is unchanged and green. Producers checked for a legitimate differing body stamp: package export strips every `_` key; the artifact loader stamps in place with artifactPackageId(body) or manifest.id, the same id registerApp keys owners on; the residual's metadata-door stamp is the residual owner id; no producer in this repo writes a foreign stamp. M2 (cloud-connection): install-local registers every packages[] member as 'marketplace' via asMarketplaceRegistration at install AND rehydrate (so a ledger entry written earlier is covered). Override at the door, not in objectql plugin.ts, because the manifest service's entry-over-door precedence is the pinned boot behaviour for a merged artifact (package-source-stamp.test.ts) and only install-local states a source in this repo. S1: nonHostDeclaringPackageOf answers host only for no registry, no stamp, a non-marketplace row, or a residual owner a 'code' door recorded (new ObjectQL.recordResidualOwner/residualOwnerSource, written by the manifest service with the door's source; 'marketplace' never downgrades). Each carries exactly one disposition, `adr-0087: not-required (no-migration-prescription)` with its reason, in the shape of the cited precedent .changeset/26711-view-write-door-unknown-key-refused.md. The FROM / TO half of D1 is NOT done, deliberately, and is the one open question. The gate refuses a body carrying a migration prescription beside `no-migration-prescription` or `runtime-interface-only` (check-adr-0087-registration.mjs, the `prescription` branch before `runtime-interface-only`); measured with its own findMigrationPrescription, a FROM / TO table shaped like eeb95f7's answers {branch: from-to-label}, the prose remedy answers null. The categories that tolerate a prescription are `registered` / `already-registered` (an ADR-0087 ledger entry; the only near entry, permission-set-package-id-binding-mismatch-refused, covers security.permission.packageId and not `_packageId`, so citing it would be false) and `type-surface-only` / `runtime-export-retired` (not this change). A FROM / TO block therefore needs a new D3 entry under packages/spec/src/migrations/entries/semantic/, which is outside the claim. S6: not applied, by measurement. The viewItems site judges and registers `parsed.data`, the parse's new object, so the caller's entry is never stamped there; pinned (a registered entry leaves the caller's object unstamped and the same object re-registers under another package; an arriving foreign stamp is refused there) and the reason is in a comment at the site. Answer to the dev's open question in report 6556632351 (D1 shape): B stands. The contract review PASS 6556805066 on ffbdd0fb agrees, as its should-fix S12. The changesets keep adr-0087: not-required (no-migration-prescription) with a prose remedy, the #26711 shape. The FROM / TO half of D1 is not owed on this diff, because the only gate-valid FROM / TO needs an ADR-0087 ledger entry in packages/spec. If one is wanted, it goes with #28627 (the build-door judge for _packageId). PR #28587 is landed by the seat in this act.
MERGED → PR #28587 through the merge queue (merge commit d2c487407) · 2026-11-01T11:00Z. Closed completed by its Fixes #28534. pm:dispatched is removed in this act; pm:epic is kept. It landed under the CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIER PASS 6556805066 on head ffbdd0fb (narrowing face). An install-local package's connector entries are now refused every package-relative ref. objectql refuses a body-carried _packageId other than its registering package's (Metadata-protocol: narrowed; objectql and cloud-connection at minor). install-local registers every packages[] member as marketplace. An unrecorded stamp fails closed. Follow-ups handed to their lanes in this act: #28594 (stored/authored rows) and #28627 (the build-door judge).

The contract review PASS 6556805066 on
ffbdd0fbagrees, as its should-fix S12. The changesets keepadr-0087: not-required (no-migration-prescription)with a prose remedy, the #26711 shape. The FROM / TO half of D1 is not owed on this diff, because the only gate-valid FROM / TO needs an ADR-0087 ledger entry inpackages/spec. If one is wanted, it goes with #28627 (the build-door judge for_packageId). PR #28587 is landed by the seat in this act.objectstack-fleet commentedon Nov 1, 2026
