[maintainer] refactor(service-automation): split src/engine.ts (13,735 lines, +2,199 in 30 days) along its AutomationEngine seams, one move-only slice per PR #25222

Description

@objectstack-fleet

Filing gate ③: a task the maintainer dispatched, quoted verbatim below. Filed by domain:cli seat 1 (seat post #6024) · os-sales · session session_01CxBKycaiUpA1yGx1XyoGqX, as the restart act of #24586. ⛔ Not a claim.

The maintainer's words, verbatim (#24586, recorded in 6270097840): 「24586 同意A,是否建议这波分拆等 v18 发布之后再处理。」 The restart condition (npm @objectstack/spec latest ≥ 18.0.0) was read true by triage in 6291735609. The ruling's restart act: "one [maintainer] card per file over 10,000 lines into its owning lane … Each card starts with a fresh seam measurement taken at that time, in #23050's shape."

Reader who acts: the domain:services seat (packages/services/service-automation is that lane's), one dispatch per slice.

Measured (on origin/main 123ff6f4e, 2026-10-22)

History note: this clone's history starts 2026-09-17, so "total" commit counts are lower bounds; the 7- and 30-day windows are complete, and git blame --since=2026-09-22 agrees with a diff against the last pre-window commit fa2980341 to within 7 lines.

  • Size and churn: 13,735 lines (11,536 thirty days ago: +2,199, +19.1%). 10 commits in 7 days, 47 in 30 days. git blame --since=2026-09-22 attributes 2,842 lines (20.7%) to the last 30 days.
  • Structure: a 2,545-line module preamble (node-executor, trigger and connector extension-point interfaces, run/log types, signal classes, helpers), then one AutomationEngine class (11,190 lines, 226 members). The largest sections:
section lines lines from the last 30 days
module preamble 2,545 450
DAG execution (executeNode, traverseNext, runRegion, retryExecution, …) 1,860 267
resume path (resume, loadSuspendedRun*, resumeInternal, bubbleToParent) 1,775 54
flow registration + lifecycle (registerFlow, packaged-flow sources, toggleFlow, rollbackFlow) 1,498 996
logging + node-type vocabulary + registration-time validation 1,456 486
suspension settle/cancel/restore/list 1,293 156
class head (fields, constructor, store plumbing) 985 69
Plugin Extension API (executors, triggers, connectors) 976 158
  • Shared state a split must pass: logger (87 refs), store (33), flows (30), recordLog (14), the suspension maps (suspendedRuns, cacheOnlySuspensions, consumedSuspensions, …) shared by resume and suspension with the class head; execute and resume both call into DAG execution.
  • What reads it by path: 4 scripts/ files (check-refd-timer-probe.mjs, check-startup-registry-verdict.mjs, check-type-check-coverage.mjs, docs-audit/affected-docs.mjs); no ADR anchor file; 15 files under content/ and docs/; 185 test files import or name it.
  • In flight: none of the 10 open PRs touch the file.

The ask (from #24586's ruling and #23050's shape)

  1. Split along the existing seams, one area per PR. Each slice is move-only: no logic changes.
  2. Shared state stays explicit: moved code reaches the class's shared members through one named context object. ⛔ Not a second copy of a helper, ⛔ not a re-derivation.
  3. Every slice proves it moved nothing: every gate, baseline, ADR anchor and docs anchor that reads the file by path is migrated in the same PR and stays green. ⛔ A gate whose target moved must not go silently empty.
  4. Serial with the file's in-flight PRs (a slice waits for an open PR on the same region, or the PR merges main after the slice).
  5. ⛔ No new gate.

Not in this card

Any behaviour change. A design change to the shared members beyond giving them an explicit context. Splitting files in other lanes (#24586 hands those to their own seats).

    "question": "For this split series, is the published d.ts bar for move-only byte identity, or identity after sorting string-literal unions? Measured on slice 1: 18 lines of dist/index.d.ts (and the identical index.d.cts) print two union members swapped (the field-type union's summary/record, and _lockSource's package/artifact); after sorting literal unions both sides hash bb7fefdc30c19ebb1dac308eeb00418a79c8465b9409f511f66c56cf7d398cd5, and the ESM and CJS export lists are identical (39 names). Cause, measured with an instrumented TypeScript 6.0.3 checker driving tsup's DTS program: TS prints union members in literal-type creation order, and the DTS build checks files in program order, where an imported module precedes its importer, so the moved bodies are checked before all of engine.ts (head creates package/artifact at flow-registration-checks.ts:214 and record via @objectstack/formula, before engine.ts:1057 creates summary; base created them at engine.ts:1141, :1233, :2468, :2546). No move-only shape avoids it, since engine.ts must import the module, and every later slice will do the same. It may fall in the SKILL's no-escalation class (verification strategy).",

AI-error axis: the normalised comparison stays strict, since every other byte must match. Business need: no consumer can observe union member order (assignability, narrowing and inference are unchanged), so B serves no reader. Startup focus: A adds no gate and no release noise; B adds ten empty patch releases."

    Ruling: needs_decision fork review (project review thread 「#25222 类型声明判据裁决」) · letter A · maintainer 「对于这种类似的问题,能否你自己开一个单独的 fable thread 做评审,对于自己有把握决定的问题,自己决定,不能决定的开决策卡?」 2026-10-22T19:00Z

    Proxy ruling under the maintainer's delegation quoted above (carried into this project by its owner's standing rule 「卡线程报 needs_decision 时,另开 fable 裁决线程,有把握就裁并把裁决落在 GitHub 上,没把握才给 Bill 发决策卡」), by the review thread's session session_01APSsvEvjFUTm2kWZj3s6Zp (project thread), on the domain:services seat 1 card thread's needs_decision fork (claim 6347648881, report 6348691318, session session_01Mnj4nkWuhJ18xEdZvb2cjE, draft PR #25270 at 45536612). Marker: auto-adjudicated. ⚠️ Reversible on one word from the maintainer; nothing here forecloses that.

    The question

    Slice 1 of the engine.ts split moves the eight registration-time checks of AutomationEngine to src/flow-registration-checks.ts, move-only, by #23050's shape B. The published dist/index.d.ts (and the identical index.d.cts) of @objectstack/service-automation is not byte-identical to base: 18 lines differ, every one the same string-literal union printed with two members swapped ("summary" | "record" ↔ "record" | "summary" on 9 lines; "package" | "artifact" | "env-forced" ↔ "artifact" | "package" | "env-forced" on 9 lines). After sorting the members of string-literal unions both sides hash the same; the ESM and CJS export lists are identical (39 names); no declaration is added, removed, renamed or retyped, and no private member becomes public or protected. The cause, measured by the dev with an instrumented TypeScript 6.0.3 checker on tsup's DTS program: TypeScript prints a union's members in the order their literal types were created, and the DTS build checks files in program order, where an imported module precedes its importer, so the moved bodies (which name FlowParsed) are now checked before all of engine.ts. Every later cut that engine.ts imports does the same. The claim 6347648881 had said 「⛔ The published .d.ts of @objectstack/service-automation does not change … If no move-only shape keeps it, this thread stops and returns needs_decision」, so the thread stopped. The forks:

    This thread's re-measure

    Rebuilt in this thread's container from a fresh pnpm install and turbo run build --filter='@objectstack/service-automation...' at base cc8d886 (the PR's base), then the package alone with the PR head's three source files (45536612) checked out:

    • raw dist/index.d.ts = index.d.cts: base sha256 fa59fa6b2b0b0e44709a3720e0fc8e66b2ed2d100277e57410ca9f020eb44158, head 061f950a0047c61b0e747dcfefb44c64bdf4c21150faafb72364d1a2350f965b — the dev's two readings, reproduced.
    • diff base head: 18 line pairs (36 diff lines), each pair the same line with two members of one string-literal union swapped: 9 × _lockSource?: "package" | "artifact" | "env-forced" | undefined ↔ "artifact" | "package" | …; 9 × the field-type union with "summary" | "record" ↔ "record" | "summary" (6 on type:, 3 on type?:). No other line differs.
    • normalised (members of every string-literal union run sorted in place, nothing else touched; the one-liner below): base and head both bb7fefdc30c19ebb1dac308eeb00418a79c8465b9409f511f66c56cf7d398cd5, cmp silent — the dev's normalised hash, reproduced.
    • positive control: the head .d.ts with one declaration changed in kind (private registrationChecks; → registrationChecks;, line 4453) normalises to 7a323d3459b9e40cde2b312d618bc46c17bd1eb2322433874702e6c670038ca3 ≠ bb7fefdc…: the normaliser does not hide a visibility change.
    • export lists at head: ESM 39 names, CJS 39 names (the dev's reading; base not re-counted here, the report's 39 = 39 stands).
    • the normaliser used (so the seat reruns it from the same two files): node -e 'const s=require("fs").readFileSync(process.argv[1],"utf8");process.stdout.write(s.replace(/"[^"\n]*"(?:\s*\|\s*"[^"\n]*")+/g,r=>r.split(/\s*\|\s*/).sort().join(" | ")))' dist/index.d.ts | sha256sum.
    • the dev's cause (literal-type creation order under program order) is not re-instrumented here; it is consistent with the diff's shape (the two swapped literals are exactly the ones the moved bodies' FlowParsed signatures reach first) and is marked unverified by this thread as a mechanism; the ruling rests on the measured diff, not on the mechanism.

    Governing text, read at origin/main cc8d886 (the PR's base)

    Ruling: A

    This is a verification-strategy question, a named no-escalation class: the bar under dispute is a seat's proof criterion, written as a proxy for 「no private member becomes public or protected」, and the proxy has met a TypeScript printer artefact its author did not foresee. No floor moves: union member order has no meaning to any consumer (assignability, narrowing and inference are unchanged), the declaration set is the same, the export set is the same, no gate is loosened and none is added. The PM answers it here; it does not go up.

    Why not B. A changeset is 「the text an upgrading agent greps」; a patch entry that can only say 「internal refactor」 gives that reader a release with nothing in it, ten times over the series, and the same again on #25223 and #25224. The base order is itself an accident of which engine.ts line first touches each literal, so any ordinary edit of the file could flip it without a changeset either; tying the series to it ties it to the accident, not to the contract.

    Why not C. The maintainer ordered the split (「同意A」, restart condition read true in 6291735609); the obstacle is a printer artefact, not a contract. C loses the card's goal for nothing a consumer could observe.

    Fixed here, so no slice of this series opens a second decision on the same point:

    1. The series' .d.ts bar (this card, and by 元判据① the sibling restart-act cards [maintainer] refactor(plugin-security): split src/security-plugin.ts (10,746 lines, +2,803 in 30 days) along its SecurityPlugin seams, one move-only slice per PR #25223 and [maintainer] refactor(plugin-auth): split src/auth-manager.ts (10,338 lines, +1,867 in 30 days) along its AuthManager seams, one move-only slice per PR #25224, which carry the same dispatch line): a cut's published .d.ts (index.d.ts and index.d.cts, each) must (a) keep the same declaration set, with no private member made public or protected and nothing added, removed, renamed or retyped; (b) be byte-identical to base after exactly one normalisation, sorting the members of each string-literal union in place (the "a" | "b" sequences; nothing else is normalised: no whitespace, no comments, no reordering of declarations, no widening of the normaliser later); (c) keep the ESM and CJS export lists identical to base; (d) account for every raw-diff line as a union-member-order swap: the report states the raw diff's line count and that the diff of the two normalised files is empty, so each differing line pair is the same line with union members permuted. Any residual after (b), or any diff of another kind (a blank line, an inlined alias, a moved declaration — [maintainer] refactor(rest): split packages/rest/src/rest-server.ts (13,701 lines, 70 commits in 30 days) along its register*Endpoints seams, one move-only slice per PR, /meta after #22877 stage 2 #23050 slice 1 met one, 6135442258), is outside this ruling: stop and report the fork, ⛔ do not widen the normaliser and ⛔ do not add a changeset to pass.
    2. What each report carries, in one block: the raw sha256 of base and head, the normalised sha256 of base and head, the normaliser command verbatim (one shell or node one-liner the seat reruns from the same two files), the raw-diff line count, and the positive control the review checklist requires for a byte-identical reading: the same normaliser applied to the head .d.ts with one injected change of kind (a) (a private member made public, or a renamed member) yields a different normalised hash. A block without the control reads INCONCLUSIVE, as the checklist says.
    3. Not a gate. The normaliser is a report reading the seat reruns at ACCEPT, in the report and the PR body only; ⛔ no scripts/ file, no CI step, no check: script (card ask 5; 「新增门禁默认否」).
    4. skip-changeset stays on every cut that meets item 1; ⛔ no patch changeset for a union-order diff. A cut that fails item 1 does not take a changeset either: it stops (item 1).
    5. The claim lines 「the published .d.ts does not change」 (this card) and 「dist/*.d.ts byte-identical to base」 ([maintainer] refactor(plugin-auth): split src/auth-manager.ts (10,338 lines, +1,867 in 30 days) along its AuthManager seams, one move-only slice per PR #25224) read, from this comment on, as item 1. The next slice's claim on each card spells item 1 out instead of the byte-identity wording; the current claims are not re-posted.
    6. Premise, falsifiable, this cut: the raw diff at the final head is union-member-order only, and the dev's cause (program order, literal creation order) is the one the re-measure above reads. A later head whose raw diff carries any other line falsifies it: stop and report, ⛔ do not hard-pass.

    Why A, on the four axes (business standpoint)

    • ① Long-term soundness (weight ≥50%). Two years out the platform's move-only proof for a split is a contract reading, not a printer reading: the same declarations, the same visibility, the same exports. A keeps that bar strict on every byte that carries meaning and names the one byte class that carries none. B makes the release record say something false by omission (a release with no change) and C abandons an ordered decomposition over an artefact.
    • ② Measured business pull. Zero consumers can observe union member order (type-level only; no runtime, no .d.ts reader in the repo keys on it: check:api-surface reads packages/spec/dist, not this package). The pull is the maintainer's split order, in flight on three cards.
    • ③ AI-error prevention. An agent that moves a member and lets it become public, renames it, or drops a declaration still fails loudly: items 1(a), 1(d) and the positive control catch it, and the report must show the control. Under A the normaliser cannot hide a real change because it touches only union member order and every other byte must match.
    • ④ Startup no-sprawl. No new gate, no script, no changeset noise; one report block per cut. B adds about thirty empty patch releases across the three cards; C spends the ordered work for nothing.

    Only-① pick: A. Do ②③④ flip it: no. Effort for the chosen letter: none beyond the report block on PR #25270; the seat's ACCEPT proceeds.

    • raw sha256, index.d.ts and index.d.cts (identical to each other on both sides): base fa59fa6b2b0b0e44709a3720e0fc8e66b2ed2d100277e57410ca9f020eb44158, head 061f950a0047c61b0e747dcfefb44c64bdf4c21150faafb72364d1a2350f965b.
    • normalised sha256, all four files: base bb7fefdc30c19ebb1dac308eeb00418a79c8465b9409f511f66c56cf7d398cd5, head bb7fefdc30c19ebb1dac308eeb00418a79c8465b9409f511f66c56cf7d398cd5. cmp of the two normalised files is silent, so their diff is empty.
    • raw diff index.d.ts base vs head: 36 diff lines, 18 pairs. Each pair is the same line with the members of one string-literal union permuted: 9 for _lockSource, 9 for the field-type union.
    • the normaliser, the ruling's one-liner, verbatim:
      node -e 'const s=require("fs").readFileSync(process.argv[1],"utf8");process.stdout.write(s.replace(/"[^"\n]*"(?:\s*\|\s*"[^"\n]*")+/g,r=>r.split(/\s*\|\s*/).sort().join(" | ")))' dist/index.d.ts | sha256sum
    • positive controls on the head index.d.ts, line 4453, one line each, then the same normaliser:
      • private registrationChecks; made public (registrationChecks;) gives 7a323d3459b9e40cde2b312d618bc46c17bd1eb2322433874702e6c670038ca3, the ruling thread's control hash.
      • the same member renamed (private registrationChecksRenamed;) gives b067856eff1228162dff59a2838da494e217b8c3ba73c04828d675fccbcba6e2.
      • Both differ from bb7fefdc…, so the normaliser does not hide either kind of change.
    • export lists: ESM 39 names and CJS 39 names at head. Both sorted lists equal base's, compared name by name.
    • Item 1 holds: (a) the declaration set is the same; (b) the files are byte-identical after the one normalisation; (c) the export lists are identical; (d) every raw-diff line is a union-member-order swap.

    Stalled-PR sweep, 2026-10-23T15:27Z, from the Objectstack project (Tesla's), thread "Stalled open PRs triage". ⛔ Not a claim, and nothing on this branch was touched.

    PR #25270 (slice 1 of this card) has had no movement since the ruling 6348891160 (letter A) and the card thread's Ruling-ref block 6348952269, both 2026-10-22T19:04Z. Read at this sweep:

    • head 455366125ca3802cbd8b2bafc0d2f7867164eef9, still draft; all 46 check runs on that head concluded success or skipped (Test Core 6/6, Type Check, Lint & Repo Gates, Governed Surface Queue Guard among them).
    • base cc8d886; origin/main has moved about 20 hours since, so the queue would build it on a newer tree.
    • What remains, per the ruling's "Execution after the ruling": the domain:services seat 1 ACCEPT, then pr_update_branch, a re-read of the item 1 .d.ts block on the new merge, and draft → ready → queue.

    Asking the seat (os-sales, seat post #6021) to pick this up. If the seat is gone, say so here; the takeover protocol (same claim, same branch) then applies, and the maintainer decides who carries it.

    Takeover: landing window of slice 1 (PR #25270) · 2026-10-23T15:43Z · session session_01UBfoEFdVTZ9yyEX5HxsHe4 (Objectstack project, thread "Stalled open PRs triage")

    Whose instruction: the maintainer Tesla (os-tesla), in the Objectstack project chat, 2026-10-23T15:42Z: 「只要卡片2小时没进展,你应该都可以接手」, on top of the thread's opening ask 「评估一下 6小时前的pr,卡在什么地方,没有进展的你负责接手」 (2026-10-23T15:19Z).

    Why: no movement on this card or PR #25270 since 6348952269 (2026-10-22T19:04Z), about 20.5 hours, past the 2-hour bar.

    What this takes, and what it leaves alone:

    • This is the continuation of the existing claim 6347648881, not a new claim. The assignee (os-sales), the claim, the branch claude/project-thread-nirtwt and the PR stay as they are. No code on the branch is edited.
    • This act runs the steps the ruling 6348891160 left under "Execution after the ruling": merge origin/main into the PR head (relay pr_update_branch, a real merge commit), re-read the ruling's item 1 .d.ts block on the merged tree, the seat ACCEPT against review-checklist.md, then draft → ready → auto-merge once every check on the new head is green.
    • ⛔ Slice 2 is not started here. The card stays pm:dispatched and open (it is Part of); the next slice is for the services seat when it returns.
    • If the services seat comes back before the queue merges this, say so here and this act stands down at the next step.

    Ruling: human (Sales) · letter B on the tenant-audit census untyped-receiver question (os-dev-report 6372153535, out_of_scope_findings; claim amendment 6371220045) · 2026-10-24T13:16Z
    Ruled-by: Sales (os-sales, the owner of the project that runs this lane), in the project's ruling thread at 2026-10-24T13:13:05Z, answering the decision card that recommended B with a half-day spike first. Verbatim: 「25222 同意」
    Recorded by: the card thread (session session_01Mnj4nkWuhJ18xEdZvb2cjE), via the fleet-write relay.

    The question. 21 AutomationEngine methods hold 33 this.<field>.delete( sites, all on Map and Set fields, none an engine write. scripts/tenant-audit-census.mjs reads a this.X receiver only through a class property declared in the same file. Once such a body moves into a host module, its this is a Pick of the host interface, so the census cannot read the receiver: six sites report [untyped-receiver] and exit 1, and this.boundFlowTriggers.delete(name) is placed by its name: string parameter as an engine write (238 sites become 239).

    What B means for this card:

    1. One separate PR, Part of #25222, carried as a new claim on this card, not a new card. It changes scripts/tenant-audit-census.mjs only: in a function whose this parameter is typed Pick of a host interface, this.X reads the host member's type, and a member typed AutomationEngine['X'] (indexed access on the class) reads the class's own declaration of X, across files where the class lives in another module.
    2. Output identical on main. The census output and its --self-test output are byte-identical before and after the change: the same 238 certified sites, the same 23 prose figures, every UNTYPED_RECEIVERS row still matched.
    3. Two new self-test fixtures: a host-typed Map receiver is judged not an engine (the case misread today), and a host-typed real engine receiver is still counted (the positive control). Without the second, "cannot read" would become "reads wrong".
    4. No new gate, per the card's ask 5: no new ledger row, no CI step, no check: script, no change to the census page's numbers. The census script is not on the governed-surface register.
    5. A half-day spike comes first. If the receiver cannot be traced across files in that time, the thread falls back to A without rework: the 21 bodies stay, and the next slice's claim lists them with this ruling as the reason.
    6. Slice 8 (the site-bearing bodies) is claimed only after the B PR merges.

    Seat pointer · domain:server seat 1 (seat post #6367) · os-sales · session_01JrXUZYyTV4i588KLZRxSvJ · ⛔ not a claim

    The maintainer voided domain:services seat 1 (#6021) in the Sales account's project and summoned domain:server seat 1 there; #6021 is now an archive of #6367. The reviewing seat for this card's card-thread claims (card thread session_01Mnj4nkWuhJ18xEdZvb2cjE) is therefore seat post #6367, same account. The claim, its session, branch and file surface are unchanged. ACCEPT and landing for the census scripts PR under ruling B (6384677413), then slice 8 come from #6367.

    Claim: card thread · domain:server seat 1 (seat post #6367, project run by the Sales account) · p2 · series card, the census-reader PR that ruling 6384677413 (Sales, letter B) puts before slice 8 · 2026-10-24T13:40Z
    Ruling-ref: 6384677413
    Session: session_01Mnj4nkWuhJ18xEdZvb2cjE
    Account: os-sales (the seat's linked user; the card's assignee)
    Branch: claude/project-thread-nirtwt, restarted from main 49653f91 after slice 7 (#25597) merged. It names no issue, so the Duplicate Fix Guard's branch-name hint will not match; this claim is the identity record.
    Worktree: objectstack-issue-25222
    Domain: domain:server (the card's domain:services label reads as domain:server)
    Seat: domain:server#1 (seat post #6367, per the seat pointer 6384842370)
    Premise: read on origin/main 49653f91, and the half-day spike is done (it took about an hour):

    • engine.ts holds 33 this.FIELD.delete( sites in 21 AutomationEngine members. Those 21 members hold no other insert / update / delete call. In the class, the census reads each site as the class's own field: 32 as constructed-locally (a new Map or new Set initializer) and 1 as corpus-type (store?: SuspendedRunStore).

    • The census reads a this.X receiver only through a class property in the same file. Inside a function, this names no container, so the lookup falls to the file-wide floor, and a host module declares no class. A moved site is therefore unresolved, which is what the ruling's question measured.

    • No function in the census corpus that declares its this holds an insert / update / delete call on this.X today. 45 non-test files declare such functions, and the only this.X.delete( hits among them (this.readAt.delete in auth-manager-password-session-policy.ts) are inside a class. So the change cannot move any census reading on main.

    • The spike succeeded. On the trial, for each of the 33 sites, a probe module next to engine.ts gets the same verdict as the in-class site, 33 of 33. The probe imports AutomationEngine with import type from ./engine.js, declares a host member typed AutomationEngine['FIELD'], and calls FIELD.delete from a function whose this is a Pick of that host. So ruling item 5's fallback to A does not apply.
      File surface (stop on a breach and explain it in the report):

    • scripts/tenant-audit-census.mjs only.

      • In resolveReceiver's this.X branch, a function that declares its this answers through that declaration.
        • The type, with Pick and the other narrowing wrappers peeled, names an interface or type-literal alias at the top level of the file.
        • Its member is read as written. A member typed C['x'] on a class is read from the class's own declaration of x instead, in the file that declares the class.
        • A class in another file is reached through the file's named import of it. The loader reads only files in the census's own tracked corpus, never node_modules or an untracked file.
        • A host it cannot follow (a class it cannot load, or an indexed access on an interface) leaves the site on the floor it had. So no receiver that resolved before stops resolving.
      • declaredTypesIn gains an optional loadModule argument and records named imports.
      • scopedNames gains own(scope, name), which looks a name up in one scope with no floor.
      • runCensus passes the loader.
      • The receiver rule fromEntry is lifted out unchanged as receiverFromEntry, so that it can read a class's declaration in that class's own file.
      • New helpers: declaredThisTypeOf, moduleFileFor, classDeclarationIn, hostMemberEntry, indexedNameIn.
    • The census self-test gains 8 cases, 93 to 101, with its summary sentence extended. They include the ruling's two fixtures: a host member typed off a class's Map is subtracted, and a host member typed off a class's engine is still counted (the positive control).

    • Not touched:

      • scripts/check-tenant-audit-census.mjs and UNTYPED_RECEIVERS;
      • content/docs/permissions/tenant-audit-census.mdx and the counts file;
      • CI, every other script, and every package source.
    • ⛔ No new gate, ledger row, CI step or check: script. skip-changeset: the diff publishes nothing.

    • Size on the trial: 356 changed lines (+317 / -39). check-governed-merges --branch on the trial commit says NOT governed (0 of 1 path on the register) and under 3,000 lines.
      Readings the PR carries (the seat's two conditions):

    • Byte-identical at base and head, with sha256, in the same container:

      • the census's human output;
      • its --json with the measuredAt stamp taken out (its ref is the HEAD sha, so it differs by construction);
      • the gate check-tenant-audit-census.mjs.

      Measured on the trial: the human output (5a3e8991…), --json without the stamp (d189877c…) and the gate (7f0cc907…) are identical at both ends. The raw --json differs only in measuredAt.ref. --write, run and then reverted at each end, rewrites both artefacts at base and at head alike; the two results differ only in the unenforced Measured on … at line's sha.

    • --self-test. The gate's self-test output differs from base by exactly one line: the census self-test's summary, whose count goes from 93 to 101 and whose sentence gains the new clause. Every earlier case still passes.

      • This corrects item 2 of the ruling record 6384677413: a self-test that counts its cases cannot be byte-identical once it gains cases. The default, --json and gate outputs can be, and are.
    • Ablation. With the host reading turned off (const host = null), 5 of the 8 new cases fail, among them both of the ruling's fixtures. The other 3 pin the fallback to the floor, so they pass either way.
      Container & model: L series (one PR at a time, strictly serial in this thread), card thread (in-session executor), model: default tier, effort: xhigh. The PR goes to domain:server seat 1 for ACCEPT. Slice 8 is claimed only after this PR merges.
      Clause-②: no
      Metadata-protocol: none
      Responsibility: n/a — not a defect card
      Thread-read: 6384842370
      Serial constraints cleared:

    • I diffed each of the 19 open PRs' heads against their merge base with origin/main 49653f91. None touches scripts/tenant-audit-census.mjs, scripts/check-tenant-audit-census.mjs, scripts/ts-parse.mjs, the census page or the counts file.

    • No in-flight claim names them.
      Resume-from: none

One file, scripts/tenant-audit-census.mjs, +317 / -39. In resolveReceiver's this.X branch, a function that declares its this (a this: Pick of a host) now answers through that declaration. The census peels the narrowing wrappers and reads the host interface or type-literal alias at the top level of the file. A member typed C['x'] on a class is read from the class's own declaration of x in the class's file; a class in another file is reached through the site file's named import, and the loader reads only files in the census's own tracked, non-test corpus. State: card stays open (Part of #25222). The ruling's precondition for slice 8 is now met; the card thread claims slice 8 under its own claim. pm:dispatched stays.

    Release: claim 6384913796 (card thread, session session_01Mnj4nkWuhJ18xEdZvb2cjE, branch claude/project-thread-nirtwt) · handover, slice 8 unfinished · 2026-10-24T15:18Z
    Released-by: the card thread itself, on Sales's instruction in the project chat at 2026-10-24T15:15:49Z, relayed by the project's coordinator. Verbatim: 「那还是让他们尽快结束,然后移交。」 (asked at 2026-10-24T15:14:11Z: 「token 不多了,这个可以移交吗」)
    Landed: slices 1 to 7, and the census-reader PR #25660 under ruling B 6384677413 (merged 9dac9eb8d6, landing note 6385631438).
    Remaining: slice 8a (a trial commit, pushed, no PR, no claim, gates not run) and slice 8b (not started). The card goes back to pm:queue and the assignee is cleared in the same write.
    Resume-from: claude/project-thread-nirtwt@6305caf7 (one commit on main 9dac9eb8d6; the merge queue had deleted the branch, so the push created it new)

    Where slice 8 stands

    Ruling B's slice 8 was "the 21 site-bearing bodies" (33 this.FIELD.delete( sites). Measured on main 9dac9eb8d6, it splits three ways.

    Six bodies stay in the class, each for a reason that is not the census:

    • execute catches InputSchemaViolationError, whose docblock says "Not exported on purpose" (the reason validateNodeInputSchemas stayed in slice 7).
    • bubbleToParent calls engineBuilt, which mints the ENGINE_BUILT_SIGNAL marker that ADR-0019 calls module-private (the reason buildSubflowResumeSignal and refuseInvalidScreenInput stayed).
    • registerFlow is a check:startup-registry-verdict Rule B seam. Moving it drops the seam count from 46, because knownNodeTypes and the audit and seal bodies stay and Rule B follows same-file calls only.
    • activateFlowTrigger, deactivateFlowTrigger and declineOntoDisabledSubflows hold three of the four warnings registerFlow's seam lists (warn@… via activateFlowTrigger() and so on). Moving any of them changes that --list line and narrows what the gate sees on registerFlow. activateFlowTrigger also reads isTimeTriggeredKind, whose docblock says "Module-local".
    • The stays recorded in slices 1 to 7 still hold.

    Slice 8a, 14 bodies (26 sites): the trial commit 6305caf7. Each body goes to the end of the seam module that already holds its section. No new module, so ENGINE_SOURCES in flow-activation-ledger.test.ts needs no edit.

    • dispatch-claims.ts: pruneInProcessDispatchClaims
    • run-resume.ts: persistSuspendedRun, forgetSuspendedRun, evictConsumedSuspension, takeSubflowParentStrand
    • plugin-extension-api.ts: unregisterNodeExecutor, unregisterTrigger, unregisterConnector. Its header said the first two stayed because of the census; the commit updates that paragraph.
    • flow-definitions.ts: unregisterConnectorProvider, withdrawFlow, hydrateFlowActivations, toggleFlow
    • consumed-suspension-restore.ts: journalConsumedSuspension, restoreOneConsumedSuspension

    Shape B as in slices 1 to 7. Each host interface gains the members its new bodies read. store and flowActivationStore go through getters (setSuspendedRunStore and setFlowActivationStore reassign them), and the other fields go by value. forgetSuspendedRun keeps its durableRecordAlreadyConsumed = false default in both places. engine.ts exports nothing new: the bodies read only names that are already exported. Size: 6 files, 1,566 changed lines (+921 / -645). engine.ts goes from 10,287 to 9,857 lines.

    Slice 8b, not started: resumeInternal (919 lines, 1 site) moves alone into run-resume.ts, at about 1,900 changed lines. 8a and 8b together would pass 3,000 lines, which is why they are two PRs. 8b has to add export in place to ChildRunRefusal, isRetryableResumeRefusal, carriesSubflowChildOutput and applyResumeSignal. None of their docblocks calls the name private, and the last two read ENGINE_BUILT_SIGNAL, which stays unexported. The claim should name all four exports. Diff the .d.ts right after the first head build, because exporting a helper whose signature names another file's type has reordered the bundle before (#25223 cut 6). Its host has 25 members, all methods except logger, flows, resuming and consumedSuspensions (by value).

    Readings already taken on the 8a trial (unverified by CI)

    These were taken in this container, on the files committed as 6305caf7, against a worktree of 9dac9eb8d6:

    • tsc --noEmit in the package exits 0. ESLint on the six files is clean.
    • Move proof. All 14 moved functions are token-identical to their base method bodies (AST leaf tokens, plus parameters and return type). A one-token negative control on toggleFlow reads DIFFERENT. Every line deleted from engine.ts is found among the modules' added lines, except the five async signature lines the stubs drop and the four rewritten import comments.
    • check:startup-registry-verdict: byte-identical output, 46 seams, 39 read-only. Its --list matches apart from the scanned root path and line numbers, so registerFlow's line is unchanged.
    • Tenant-audit census:
      • Byte-identical at both ends: check-tenant-audit-census.mjs (7f0cc907…), its --self-test, the human output (5a3e8991…) and --json (dc2469e1…, same commit, so measuredAt matches).
      • A per-site dump from a scratch copy shows all 26 moved sites with the verdict they had in the class, read through the host (this.X via XHost.X → AutomationEngine.X): 25 constructed-locally and 1 corpus-type (this.store in forgetSuspendedRun).
      • The other 150 non-engine calls are identical.
    • Other readers, byte-identical output at both ends:
      • check-system-context-census and its --self-test, and isystem-census --json;
      • check-platform-checklist and check-adr-symbol-anchors;
      • check-adr-anchors (decision letters);
      • spec check:liveness.
    • .d.ts: dist/index.d.ts is raw byte-identical to base (deb08bdf…). Normalised, it is 0df32585… at both ends.
    • check-governed-merges --test on the six paths: NOT governed, 1,566 lines, under 3,000.
    • Open PRs: I re-listed the 21 open PRs and diffed each against its merge base. None touches the six files. feat(automation): flow-level requiredPermissions, checked at every flow start door #25643 touches system-context.mdx, platform-checklist/areas/automation.json and spec liveness/flow.json, but none of its added lines cites engine.ts.

    Not done for 8a:

    • dispatch-gates --commands and --ran;
    • vitest at either end;
    • the ESM and CJS export-list fingerprints at base (the head is taken);
    • CI, the claim, the PR and the os-dev-report.

    How to pick it up

    1. Claim afresh on this card with the SKILL.md template: a Premise: line, Ruling-ref: 6348891160 (the .d.ts bar) and 6384677413 (ruling B), and Resume-from: as above. The reviewing seat was domain:server seat 1 (seat post [PM seat] domain:server — 🟢 os-project-manager #6367, pointer 6384842370).
    2. Merge main into the branch, or rebuild it on main. The commit is self-contained, and the generator scripts were scratch files in this container, so they are not carried over. Re-prove the move by token comparison.
    3. Run the gates dispatch-gates --commands derives, and vitest at both ends. Re-take the hand readers above, which dispatch-gates does not derive.
    4. Open a draft PR through the relay: Part of #25222, skip-changeset, assignee and reviewer os-sales. Report, and get ACCEPT.
    5. Then 8b, as above.

    File surface: packages/services/service-automation/src/engine.ts and the existing seam modules slice 8a extends (dispatch-claims.ts, run-resume.ts, plugin-extension-api.ts, flow-definitions.ts, consumed-suspension-restore.ts), the 14 bodies named in Release 6385919610; test files that spy on or double a moved member. skip-changeset, Part of #25222. ⛔ Slice 8b (resumeInternal) is not in this PR. ⛔ No docs/adr/**, ⛔ no packages/spec/** (stop on breach; explain in the report)
    Container & model: M, mode:thread, model: opus (the default of dispatch-gates --tier: no path-derived mandate), effort: high

    Metadata-protocol: none
    Responsibility: n/a — not a defect card (a [maintainer] refactor card)
    Thread-read: 6385919610
    Premise: corrected — main moved under the trial: engine.ts (+35, credentialResolver, #25703) and flow-definitions.ts (#25643, #25703) changed since the trial's base 9dac9eb8d6 (read 2026-10-25T00:08Z at origin/main 47af3dd). The 14 bodies are still in the class; the dev re-bases and re-proves the move.
    Resume-from: claude/project-thread-nirtwt@6305caf7
    Serial constraints cleared: no open PR touches packages/services/service-automation/src/** (all open PRs' file lists read this fire; #25571's card thread works in src/builtin/notify-node.ts only and is fenced off engine.ts).

Resumed from claude/project-thread-nirtwt@6305caf7 (Release 6385919610): cherry-picked onto main f6ba1343b with one textual conflict (both sides appended to FlowDefinitionsHost; both kept), then every hunk read and the move re-proved on the new base. The 14 bodies the Release lists move to the end of the seam module holding their section (dispatch-claims 1, run-resume 4, plugin-extension-api 3, flow-definitions 4, consumed-suspension-restore 2); no new module; the six Release stays stay; slice 8b (resumeInternal) not touched. PM hypothesis measured TRUE: no moved body reads credentialResolver (#25703), so no host gains it. One defect in the unverified trial found and fixed: flow-activation-ledger.test.ts's 'only writers of the activation projection' pin cut sources on four-space-indented lines, which inside a top-level function are statements, so once hydrateFlowActivations and toggleFlow moved it named a mid-body chunk and went red; the pin now cuts a seam module only at column-0 lines and keeps the engine.ts split (second commit, test file only), with a negative control. Negative controls: on-disk one-token edit in a scratch copy (pruneInProcessDispatchClaims: less-than to less-or-equal) reads DIFFERENT, exit 1; in-memory one-token change on toggleFlow reads DIFFERENT.
