I have the same issue, only now did I realize that the local file not found was for files I actually had on the phone.
Noticed I am missing auto upload since a couple of days ago.
It has something to do with the 3.32.0 RC1.
The previous stable version works fine. (3.31.4)
If you don't need beta functions, reverse it back to the 3.31.x version.

Thanks, @Dirkxke! I rolled back to version 3.31.4 and everything’s working smoothly now. We’ll keep this ticket open so the dev team can address the issue in 3.32.0 before the official release."
I closed the running app, revoked the file access in android system settings, started the app and provided the access again through it, and started to work. I don't use auto-upload, I only had issue with manual upload.
... before it affects somebody who does not know that it is not working. yep.
for example people like me, that relied on this app to work and now only having a compressed copy that was uploaded to Google cloud, because I still don't trust my own nextcloud server enough to get rid of google. >.<
it's compressed to 16 megapixels... I can live with that, also I still use jpeg. but I cannot recommend this app to a professional/prosumer like this.
they take their pictures in raw format, if those got compressed, those people will be really upset.
that aside, reinstalling the app and randomly changing the permissions at one point fixed it for me but I don't know when.
happy it works again :]

> ***@***.***(https://github.com/newachu) I think we need to define what "works" means. For me, enabling the permissions was enough to make the auto-upload work for **future** pictures. Pictures that were shown as failed, still did not work, but after enabling the permissions, I could upload the missing pictures manually. Still, this was much less work than uninstalling and reinstalling for me.
That's what I did and just uploaded the missed files manually.
I mostly worry for the people who this has been affecting for a month or so and haven't realized it's going on.

following @newachu 's steps worked for me. for some reason providing it all of the necessary permissions was not enough, nor was removing the account and logging back in to flush the file checked queues. A clean install prompted for all necessary permissions and I see PUTs in my log now
Hi
Have thje same problem with auto upload.
The strange thing is that The setup in auto upload finds the files and also in the "auto upload" where "Local file not found" is listed the thumbnail pictures are correct. So there is some bug in Nextcloud app where auto upload function first find the file/photo, but when the app shall upload the file it is not found?
Also I have to reinstall the Nextcloud app to make auto upload working!
Phone: Nothing 2
Client: Nextcloud 3.32.2
Server: Nextcloud Hub 10 (31.0.7)
Additional to above
Phone has Android 15 ( kernel version 5.10.226-android12 i that has something to do with the issue )
For obvious has the bug something to do with access rights to files where the nextcloud app has access rigts, but the "upload function" is not included or excluded by some strange reason.
Could also say that i tried to clear storage and cashe, but that did not help, even due a new login was required in this situation. BUT clearing Storage/cache dit not reste the permitions the app has in the android system, to reaktivate file permissions for the nextcloud app a re-installation is required!
Fairly new to all this and also had ran into this issue. Tried granting all access permissions, clearing cache, reinstalling etc and nothing worked. Was trying to upload from camera to folder/year/month (ignoring existing). What did work, after enabling auto upload and getting all the error messages, was going into menu (burger)>uploads and clearing out all uploads in that queue. I got an error and crashed the app, but reopening the app had cleared the queue. Took a pic and it uploaded.
I think (and bear with me, I could be massively wrong) the issue stems from not being able to adjust settings BEFORE turning on auto upload for a folder. It automatically wants to upload all that stuff the moment you activate it, but then you turn off "upload existing", or create a folder structure, and it gets caught in a loop trying to upload the stuff you've just revoked (It worked fine on the default settings, but it's not the folder structure I wanted). Or so I think anyway, probably way more complicated than I can comprehend.

You can. Just tap the three dots before enabling the upload, change the settings, and then enable it. It will start uploading after you've saved the settings. It is not intuitive at all, I agree on that.

Thanks, I did try it but some of it is greyed out. You can change some things like the folder structure, but can't disable the checkboxes and remote folder is greyed out too.
If you enable it, it will only start to upload once you hit "save". Again, very poor UX, but this is what we have.
Aye, really weird UX, both use case and explanation. I'm talking about initially, if you fresh install the app and go through the process of setting up auto upload, the remote folder it forces you to use at first is Instant Upload (or something), which is greyed out at this point as it's not enabled. You have to enable it first to be able to change to whatever remote folder you'd like to use. Upon doing so, I think the upload queue is trying to upload to the original folder, but you've changed its position and it doesn't know how to just change upload path on the fly thereafter.
"Only upload to WiFi over unmetered connection" fine, but if I uncheck that does that mean over data? Can it upload over data? Whole UX needs to be looked into.
And still not sure if it's completely worked or not as can't seem to figure out how and when things sync and upload. Is it instantly? On a timer? I've taken a few pics since getting the upload to work, and nothing appears to upload since. Ha!

No. As I was saying, you can tap on the three dots, enable it in that dialogue you posted a screenshot of, change the settings you want, and it will only start uploading after you hit "save".

Yes, it means it uploads using cellular data as well.

It works instantly, when it works - so not in the latest version(s).
