Could not canonicalise library path LWJGL #5761

Open

Description

@rackodo

Creating this issue after seeing #4900 was closed. Tried to run a fresh instance of Vanilla 1.7.2, and got this message as a popup.

Error launching Minecraft: Could not canonicalize library path /Users/bash/Library/Application Support/ModrinthApp/meta/libraries/org/lwjgl/lwjgl/lwjgl-platform/2.9.0/lwjgl-platform-2.9.0.jar: No such file or directory (os error 2)

This is on MacOS Tahoe 26.4, Modrinth App version 0.12.6.

    For any future people with this issue, go to the specified path in the error message and see if the file is actually there. My friend had the issue and it turned out their antivirus was flagging the file as harmful and removing it every time the game closed.

    I tried to create a new instance from scratch using Minecraft 1.6.4 and Forge 9.11.1.1345 but im getting a similar error on Windows 11. I tried to navigate to the specified path but the folder "lwjgl-platform" did not exist at all. Even after using "Repair Instance", it did not fix this issue. The full error in question: "launcher error: could not canonicalize library path C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\ModrinthApp\meta\libraries\org/lwjgl/lwjgl/lwjgl-platform/2.9.0/lwjgl-platform-2.9.0.jar: Cannot find the file specified. (os error 2)" and yes, some of the slashes in the path dont match but that is what it gave me.

    EDIT: The extra lwjgl in the path confused me and i actually found the file following the correct path, but it was named incorrectly as "lwjgl-platform-2.9.0-natives-windows.jar" and renaming it removed the error.
