Summary

  • Follow up merged stable release preparation build: prepare stable extension release 1.42.0 #1981 by moving main from 1.42.0 to 1.43.0, the next odd-minor pre-release development version.
  • Keep package.json and both root version fields in package-lock.json synchronized. No implementation, dependency, or npm API package changes.
  • Target main only. Do not merge or cherry-pick this version bump into the stable release source; the stable extension must remain 1.42.0.

Release coordination

The maintainer is running the stable release pipeline. This PR does not queue, change, approve, or publish that pipeline. The stable preparation commit is 86b00d1a20dc440dfeb445add8980065fb93b937. Per docs/releasing.md, preserve the stable release branch at that commit before merging this development bump if the branch has not yet been cut.

Validation

Using Node 22.21.1:

  • npm run lint
  • npm run compile-tests
  • npm run unittest -- --reporter dot: 3,511 passing, 9 pending
  • git diff --check

Only three version values changed across the two manifests.

Follow up stable release preparation in #1981 by advancing main to the next odd minor version.
