How to add a new method for edge detection in CVcamera app which is working for me?

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. On my motorola mylestone the Viewer app is not working. Why?
2. I want to write an extra method for edge detection, like Sobel
3. If I add a procedure header in the Class native
   and I recompile and run the app it crashes, why?
  Do I have to recompile the OpenCV library so that it tackes into account of the changeses in the java code?
