What

The 404 page is prerendered once, as /_not-found, but the site header chose the sign-in link (and the active nav link) from the browser's path with startsWith checks. On a missing URL such as /loginlog-in, /login/foo or /auth/foo the browser hid the sign-in link that the prerendered HTML has, and React threw a hydration mismatch (#418).

StatOSS showed this as a browser issue on a 404 for a malformed login URL; it reproduces in a clean browser on production.

Change

  • SiteHeader takes notFound, which app/not-found.tsx passes: the header then reads no path at all, so the prerendered HTML and the browser always agree on the 404 page.
  • headerPlace() matches whole path segments (/login, /auth/..., /dashboard, /account, /teams), so a page that only starts with those letters is not taken for one. Real pages behave as before; /auth itself (a 404) is not an auth page.
  • Unit test for the helper; web 0.62.6 with a changelog entry.

Testing

…rror (web 0.62.6)

The 404 page is prerendered, but the header decided whether to show the
sign-in link with a plain prefix check on the browser's path. A missing
URL that only started with "/login" (or "/dashboard", "/account",
"/teams") rendered the link in the HTML and hid it in the browser, so
React reported a hydration mismatch (#418). The checks now match whole
path segments, as the nav links already did.

Add a render test for the SiteHeader sign-in link on similar-prefix paths.

site-header.test.tsx tests only headerPlace. SiteHeader calls that helper at site-header.tsx:80 to choose the sign-in link, but no test renders the component. If SiteHeader reverted to startsWith checks, these tests would still pass. Add a test that renders SiteHeader with usePathname returning /loginlog-in and asserts that the Sign in link appears.

- Line 58: Update the `onAuthPage` check so `/login` retains its existing
`isActive` behavior and auth paths are detected by the `/auth/` prefix, not
exact `/auth` matching; this keeps the sign-in link hidden consistently during
server rendering and hydration.

…ails hydration

The 404 page is prerendered as /_not-found, so any path check in the
header (sign-in link, active nav link) could differ in the browser for
a missing URL under a real prefix such as /login/foo or /auth/foo.
