Summary

BC-2026-10-26 (review 8.6.37, requested by the radish session on JDE's instruction): the Roman-bulge microlensing SEDs need passbands no shipped NextGen table holds.

  • New tables HST.bc.parquet (ACS/WFC F606W F814W; WFC3/UVIS1 + UVIS2 F606W F814W; WFC3/IR F098M F127M F139M F153M F167N), VISTA.bc.parquet (Z Y J H Ks), DECam.bc.parquet (g r i z Y); new column Euclid_VIS in Euclid.bc.parquet. Same grid as the shipped tables (Teff 2600-10000 K, logg 0-5.5, [Fe/H] -4..+0.5, A_V 0-20, R_V 3.1), full-resolution spectra, each column's attrs carrying its SVO id.
  • Native systems: HST and VISTA Vega, DECam and Euclid VIS AB (confirmed by radish; a row may still state its own system).
  • facility_from_svo_name groups by instrument where an SVO site hosts unrelated catalogued instruments (Paranal/VISTA -> VISTA, CTIO/DECam -> DECam). Alias rows added for WFC3/UVIS2, VISTA and Euclid VIS; a test resolves one filter per new facility.

Data run and publish gate

Hydra holds no full-resolution spectra (Phoebe's processed parquets never left her disk), so scripts/build_nextgen_processed_spectra.job fetches the whole BT-NextGen grid from SVO plane by plane with the #470 fetcher and keeps the R = 20000 processed set (~8 GB) for this and every later filter request; step 2 then computes only the new columns. SVO was down on 2026-10-26; the job waits for it. Then: new version of Zenodo record 23074950, pin --update-registry (which now carries the superseded md5s automatically), and the pin commit here. test_every_shipped_bc_filter_resolves_in_both_spellings is red for the new facilities until that pin lands.

OGLE-III/IV, KMTNet and MOA-II curves: to be answered from SVO's filter service when it is back (item 5 of the request).

Test plan

  • tests/test_filter_aliases.py::test_the_roman_bulge_passbands_resolve_to_their_facility_tables (6 cases) locally
  • Data run on Hydra (fetch + step 1 + step 2), the new columns' boxes verified
  • Publish + pin; CI

BC-2026-10-26 (review 8.6.37): the GBTDS early-science events now carry
HST GO 17776 / 17923 photometry (ACS/WFC F606W F814W; WFC3/UVIS1 and
UVIS2 F606W F814W; WFC3/IR F098M F127M F139M F153M F167N), Euclid Q2 VIS,
and VVV/VIRAC (VISTA Z Y J H Ks) and DECaPS2 (DECam g r i z Y) catalog
magnitudes, none of which the shipped tables hold. This is the code
half: the filter sets (new HST, VISTA and DECam tables, VIS.vis into
Euclid), the native systems (HST and VISTA Vega, DECam and Euclid VIS AB,
confirmed by radish 2026-10-26), alias rows for the ids the table lacked
(UVIS2, VISTA, Euclid VIS), and a test resolving one filter per facility.

facility_from_svo_name groups by INSTRUMENT where one SVO site hosts
unrelated catalogued instruments (Paranal/VISTA -> VISTA, CTIO/DECam ->
DECam), so the tables are named for what the photometry comes from.

The columns themselves are generated from the full-resolution spectra
(hydra fetches the BT-NextGen grid from SVO; the processed set stays) and
published as a new version of the Zenodo record; until that pin lands,
test_every_shipped_bc_filter_resolves_in_both_spellings is red for the new
facilities by design.

…es SVO dropouts

BC-2026-10-26 item 6: with an sed: block every mulensinstrument band
needs a BC column, so MOA-II's red band is required. SVO carries it as
MOA/MOA-II.R (there is no MOA-II.Red id); it has no OGLE or KMTNet
curves. New MOA, Spitzer and UKIRT facility tables, all Vega, with an
alias row for MOA-II.R and the facility test extended.

scripts/build_nextgen_processed_spectra.job fetches the whole BT-NextGen
grid from SVO and keeps the R = 20000 processed set; it now treats a
failed download as "wait for SVO and resume" (2 min poll, 96 h deadline)
after SVO came up for 20 minutes on 2026-10-27 and the first run died on
one timeout. scripts/build_nextgen_new_columns.job is step 2 for the
columns the published tables lack.

SVO is recovering from an attack; a 2-minute poll is needless load.
