fix(editor): offer 3D Orbit only with a recorded cursor - #1399
The zoom inspector offered 3D Orbit on takes that cannot feed it. The moving camera follows the cursor under Auto focus, but a recording made in the System cursor mode writes no .cursor.json, so the compositor has no track and the camera holds still — which reads as "3D Orbit does not follow the cursor" (#1397).
This gates the moving camera on the recorded cursor per zoom: the selected region's clips are resolved (a region cut at a clip junction is one fragment per clip, one pill on the ruler), and every take under it must carry a cursor file. With none, 3D Orbit is not offered under Auto focus, so it cannot be picked where it can do nothing.
A zoom entirely over a take with a cursor is offered, even when another take on the timeline has none.
A zoom pill that runs from a take with a cursor onto one without is not: the camera would follow for part of the pill and hold still for the rest.
Manual focus still offers 3D Orbit: the focus point poses the camera and no cursor track is needed.
A zoom that already stores rotationPreset: "orbit" still lists it, so the row can show the current pick (the same rule as the hidden-cursor case).
A region migrated without a clip anchor falls back to the clips its raw span overlaps.
FloatingInspector already reads useHasRecordedCursor() for the facet rail. A new useRecordingsHaveCursor(paths) in recordedCursorTypes.ts answers the per-zoom question off the same once-per-session read cache, and zoomRecordingPaths() resolves a region to the recordings it plays over.
The reporter confirmed the root cause: later takes were recorded with the system cursor, so there was no cursor data to follow. The video in the issue shows a flat, static zoom with Auto focus and 3D Orbit selected.

No visual change for takes that carry cursor data. On a take with no cursor data, the "3D camera" row under Auto focus now lists Off / Screen turned left / Screen turned right, and under Manual focus Off / 3D Orbit / Screen turned left / Screen turned right.
Testing
npx vitest --run src/components/ai-edition/recordedCursorTypes.test.ts src/components/ai-edition/v4/FloatingInspector.test.tsx — 46 tests pass. New coverage: no cursor under Auto focus hides the orbit; cursor data offers it; a mixed project offers it over the cursor take and hides it over the system-cursor take; a pill cut across both takes hides it. zoomRecordingPaths is unit-tested for an anchored region, a region cut at a junction, an unanchored fallback and an unknown region.
npx biome check on the changed files — pass. (npm run lint in this checkout stops before reaching them on a nested Biome root configuration under an untracked .muse/ worktree; the changed files are clean on their own.)
Related but not changed
The gate follows the editor's existing "has recorded cursor" answer, which can find a sidecar through the media-links registry when the video was moved or renamed. The native preview still loads only <video>.cursor.json next to the file, so a moved video whose sidecar is only in the registry can keep the orbit offered while the preview has no track. Fixing that is a preview-path change (pass the resolved sidecar path to the native view), separate from this PR.
The agent / MCP setZoom path can still set rotationPreset: "orbit" on a project with no cursor data.

Walkthrough
Orbit under Auto focus is offered only when the cursor is shown and every recording covered by the selected zoom has cursor data. The change resolves recordings associated with anchored and unanchored zooms and adds tests for availability across takes.

Summary
Resolve zoom recordings and check cursor data src/components/ai-edition/recordedCursorTypes.ts, src/components/ai-edition/recordedCursorTypes.test.ts
Shared recording reads report whether cursor data exists across paths. Zoom path resolution uses anchored clips or, for unanchored regions, clips overlapping the zoom. Tests cover anchored, split, overlapping, unknown, and missing-document cases.
Gate Orbit by zoom cursor data src/components/ai-edition/v4/FloatingInspector.tsx, src/components/ai-edition/v4/FloatingInspector.test.tsx
FloatingInspector checks cursor tracks for recordings covered by the selected zoom. Under Auto focus, Orbit also requires the cursor to be shown. Manual focus and already-selected Orbit remain exceptions. Tests cover cursor samples on the zoom’s take, unrelated takes, and zooms spanning takes.
getopenscreen/openscreen#1380: Adds cursor samples that can affect the cursor-data check used for Orbit availability.
getopenscreen/openscreen#1363: Changes cursor metadata capture, which can affect whether the recordings have cursor data.
getopenscreen/openscreen#1398: Adds camera-only takes without cursor telemetry, a case covered by the Orbit availability check.

Explanation
The title "fix(editor): offer 3D Orbit only with a recorded cursor" states the primary change: the zoom inspector gates 3D Orbit under Auto focus on recorded cursor data. It is a short, specific, single-sentence conventional-commit title that a teammate scanning history would understand. It is not vague, and nothing in it is off-topic.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
All changed files relate to the 3D Orbit option under Auto focus for zooms, which is part of [#1397]. recordedCursorTypes.ts adds useRecordingsHaveCursor(paths) and zoomRecordingPaths(regions, id, document), and refactors useHasRecordedCursor to share the same read hook while keeping its timeline-wide result. FloatingInspector.tsx uses these to gate the Orbit option per zoom. The tests cover no cursor, cursor, mixed takes, and a zoom cut across takes. Manual focus, existing orbit selections, and fixed angles are left unchanged. The agent or MCP setZoom path is not changed, and the PR states this. The diff output was truncated at 16000 bytes after FloatingInspector.tsx. The remaining file list was taken from the change summary, which names no other files, so this verdict depends on that summary for the truncated part.

Explanation
The description follows the repository template closely. It has a clear summary of the bug (3D Orbit offered under Auto focus on takes with no cursor data), a linked issue (Fixes #1397), a type of change (Bug fix), release impact (Patch), desktop impact (Not platform-specific), screenshots/visual description, and detailed testing commands with results. The description states the behavior for mixed takes, Manual focus, and existing orbit zooms, and it lists known gaps (MCP setZoom path and moved-video sidecar lookup). Minor gap: the Screenshots section describes the UI change in text but includes no screenshot or video, which the template asks for on UI changes. This is non-critical because the author explains that takes with cursor data show no visual change and gives the exact menu rows for takes without it.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
[#1397] Requirement: with 3D Orbit and Auto focus, the camera follows the recorded cursor in preview and export. With Manual focus, the orbit is posed by the zoom focus point. The issue states that the reported recording 'does carry editable-cursor telemetry' and that the cursor moves in the preview, yet the camera stays flat. The diff changes four files: FloatingInspector.tsx, recordedCursorTypes.ts, and their tests. The change only hides the Orbit option under Auto focus when a take under the zoom has no cursor file. No compositor, scene description, preview, or export code changes. The new tests check option visibility only. For the reported recording, which has cursor data, the option stays visible and the render path is unchanged, so the reported flat-camera behavior is not addressed. The PR description says the reporter 'confirmed the root cause' (System cursor takes without cursor data). The issue text does not contain that confirmation. It states that the later-projects report 'cannot be checked from' the video. The gate therefore covers an unverified case and does not fix the reproduced case. Manual focus behavior is unchanged, as required.
Resolution
Reproduce the flat Auto focus render for a take that has cursor samples, then fix the preview and export path so the 3D Orbit follows those samples. Add an automated test that proves the camera output or scene description changes with cursor sample positions under Auto focus. If the root cause is confirmed as missing cursor files on later takes, add that evidence to #1397 (for example, the sidecar listing of the affected project or a System-cursor take video). Then state in the PR that the reported draft is out of scope. Keep the cursor-data gate if it is intended behavior.

The moving camera follows the cursor under Auto focus, and a take recorded with the system cursor writes no .cursor.json for the compositor to read, so picking 3D Orbit silently held still (#1397). Not offered under Auto focus unless every take under the selected zoom carries cursor data: a zoom cut at a clip junction is one fragment per clip, and a take without a track would hold the camera still for its part of the pill. Manual focus still offers it, where the focus point poses the camera, and a stored orbit stays listed so the row can show it.
