Setup no longer adds --prefer-online to the MCP launch command, allowing npm to use its normal cache behavior while following latest or nightly. --yes remains so npm can launch unattended. Existing registrations change when setup is rerun; explicit manual freshness checks remain documented.
Save the update and notification discussion in the plans directory and link it from the index. Notification filtering is deferred. Validation: typecheck and existing tests; platform CI verifies the package on Linux, macOS, and Windows.
