Summary

Brings the licensing docs in line with the updated OIG FAQ and OIG terms, and documents pending activations.

Open Innovation Grant page

  • Replaces the one-year renewal section with Term and Revocation: the grant is perpetual, grantees can terminate at any time, and Directus may revoke a license on the listed grounds.
  • Adds Eligibility (individuals, small businesses, agencies, non-profits, government, client logins), how thresholds are measured, the 90-day window after outgrowing them, and the 12.0.0+ version scope.
  • Rewrites What's Included with explicit inclusions and limitations (telemetry required, no product support, no offline mode, logo use), and adds Building Products With the Grant.
  • Adds Licensing Service Availability, and updates the Cloud callout to say the monthly rate covers hosting only.
  • Rewrites the CI section around pending activations.
  • Makes "free personal and commercial use" and the apply link prominent.

Licensing overview

  • Adds Pending Activations: a new activation is pending for 24 hours and doesn't count toward the limit. It only counts if the instance is still active, or becomes active again, after that.
  • Documents 12.6 startup behavior: a failed license check no longer stops Directus.
  • Adds an apply link to Quick links and links the OIG terms.

Other pages

  • Telemetry: the core tier and the OIG require telemetry.
  • License partial and v12 breaking changes: link directly to the OIG application.

Follow-ups outside this repo

  • The OIG FAQ says an env LICENSE_KEY that can't activate stops the instance. That's no longer true in 12.6.
  • The OIG FAQ still describes CI licensing as "in development". Pending activations have shipped.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Align the licensing pages with the updated OIG FAQ and terms: the grant
is now perpetual, with documented eligibility, inclusions, limitations,
and revocation grounds. Document pending activations, which let
ephemeral CI instances use a license without consuming activations, and
correct the startup behavior when a license cannot be validated.
