Declining the major jQuery bump for now. The plugin's peerDependencies.jquery contract is >=3.0; bumping our test-side jquery (and @types/jquery) to 4.x would silently start exercising the plugin against jQuery 4 in CI without us actually committing to supporting it as a peer range. Whether to advertise jQuery 4 compatibility — and update the peer range, README, and CI matrix accordingly — is a deliberate scope decision, not an auto-merge.
