What

A Shiki transformer that calls this.addClassToHast on a line renders class="["line","added"]" on every line without a {n} highlight. hastToNode now joins the array, so those lines get class="line added".

Why

Shiki keeps class as an array in the hast, and only the highlight loop joined it. The new SPEC fixture fails on main and passes here. I hit this in comark-ui, which works around it.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Improved rendering of code-line classes so custom classes and highlighting styles are preserved, including when classes are provided as arrays.
  • Documentation
    • Added examples showing how to apply a custom class to a code line, highlight that line, and view the resulting AST, HTML, and Markdown output. Examples cover both highlighted and unhighlighted lines, with configuration details and sample output for each.

A Shiki transformer that calls `addClassToHast` on a line leaves `class` as
an array in the hast. `hastToNode` copied it as-is, and only highlighted
lines joined it later, so every other line rendered
`class="["line","added"]"`. `hastToNode` now joins the
array, which also makes the two later `Array.isArray` checks dead.

Walkthrough

The Shiki conversion path now joins array-valued classes into strings. The test transformer registry and specifications add a line-class example that marks the first highlighted line with the added class.

Changes: Shiki line classes

Layer / File(s) Summary
Normalize Shiki classes
packages/comark/src/internal/shiki.ts
HAST conversion joins array-valued classes into space-separated strings. Transformer and line-highlighting paths use the class value without separately joining arrays.

The test registry adds a transformer that marks line 1 with added. The specifications show its configuration, input, AST, HTML, and Markdown output. The expected published size changes from 422k to 421k; the expected file count remains 167.

Add a fixture where a transformer class and {n} target the same line.

The new fixture covers line-class only on an unhighlighted line. The {n} fixtures do not enable transformers. No test checks a line that has both. A regression in how highlight processing handles a transformer-added class on a highlighted line can pass the current assertions.

Add a fixture with transformers: - 'line-class' and a {1} highlight on the first line. Assert the AST and HTML for that line. Take the expected class order from the actual output. This review did not run the test suite.

Suggested fixture input

```md
```ts {1}
const a = 1
const b = 2
```
Adds a SPEC case where the `line-class` transformer and a `{1}` line highlight hit the same line. Line 1 renders as `line added highlight` with `display: inline-block`, and line 2 renders as `line` with `display: inline`. The markdown round trip keeps the `{1}` on the fence.
This covers the highlight loop, which now relies on `hastToNode` joining array classes. If that join is removed, the class comes out as `line,added highlight` and the spec fails.
The shiki line-class fix removes a little code from `packages/comark/src/internal/shiki.ts`, so the packed `comark` size drops from 422k to 421k (file count unchanged at 167).
