A single string is read as one person ID. Any other shape that is not a list of strings is left unread, so saving an unrelated edit no longer rewrites it to an empty list.
The generated starter type (v3) declares assignees[] in collection.links without a target type, since several local types may implement mdbase.person. Pins the rc.5 contract digest and pack rc.15.
