> 🤖 **This text was AI-generated.** The Claude marketplace offered session tracing but did not provide a packaged connection to Braintrust's hosted MCP tools. Add a separate Braintrust plugin that connects through OAuth, alongside the existing tracing plugin: ```text Claude marketplace ├── braintrust → hosted MCP server └── trace-claude-code → bt tracing ``` Document installation and data handling, validate the MCP-only package, and keep the marketplace and plugin versions aligned during releases. Anthropic directory submission remains a manual step.

Use the plugin
.mcp.json server-map shape
When this plugin is installed, Claude parses a plugin-root .mcp.json as the server-name map; Anthropic's official example places example-server directly at the root rather than under a project-style mcpServers wrapper. With this shape Claude treats mcpServers as the server entry, which has neither type nor url, so braintrust is never registered and /mcp cannot offer the advertised OAuth connection; update this file and the validator's equality check to use {"braintrust": {...}}.

Fixed: .mcp.json now uses the root server map ({"braintrust": {...}}), and the validator and README were updated to match.

Replace the unsupported slash-command install syntax
When a user follows this first installation block inside Claude, /plugin install expects a qualified <plugin>@<marketplace> after the marketplace has been added, as shown by Anthropic's official marketplace instructions. --marketplace is not a supported single-plugin flag, so this documented path fails before the user can authenticate; show the two slash commands corresponding to the working shell example below.

Fixed: the README now shows /plugin marketplace add braintrustdata/braintrust-claude-plugin followed by /plugin install braintrust@braintrust-claude-plugin.
Plugin-root .mcp.json is the server map itself, so drop the mcpServers wrapper that kept braintrust from registering. Also show the supported slash-command install syntax in the plugin README. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

The Claude marketplace offered session tracing but did not provide a packaged connection to Braintrust's hosted MCP tools.
Add a separate Braintrust plugin that connects through OAuth, alongside the existing tracing plugin:
