Summary

  • replace the Tribes transport placeholder with current sender, receiver, TCP/UDP, and delivery-option documentation
  • add configuration, tuning, network, and TLS security guidance
  • remove completed TODO item 75.1 and update the aggregate estimates

Rationale and impact

The maintained TODO list identifies the empty Tribes transport page as a medium documentation task. This fills that gap using the current NIO implementation and current cluster TLS guidance. The change is documentation-only and does not alter runtime behavior.

Validation

  • ant build-docs: passed; generated the complete documentation, including docs/tribes/transport.html
  • ant -Dexecute.validate=true validate: passed; Checkstyle 14.3.0 validated 8,134 files
  • ant clean deploy: passed in an isolated Ubuntu container as an unprivileged user with Eclipse Temurin 21 (10 seconds)
  • ant clean test -Dtest.openssl.path=/usr/bin/openssl: passed in the same isolated Linux environment (28 minutes 49 seconds); 780 suites, 42,563 tests, 0 failures, 0 errors, 363 skipped
  • generated-distribution smoke test: started Tomcat with catalina.sh run, received HTTP 200 from /docs/tribes/transport.html, stopped with catalina.sh stop 10, foreground process exited 0, post-stop HTTP was unavailable, and 0 Bootstrap processes remained
  • git diff --check: passed

Contributor Author

@markt-asf, could you review the transport documentation when convenient? Your recent Tribes TLS and receiver documentation work is directly relevant. Thanks.
