+1. This keeps rand on the 0.8 line and picks up the upstream ThreadRng logging/reentrancy and UniformChar deserialization fixes. The lockfile change is limited to rand and its version references. All 31 checks on this commit pass; the Lance-enabled gcc-release job compiles rand 0.8.8, with all 48 CTest tests passing. No blocking issue found.
