Both parts of this were fixed by the same author in ARROW-16881 (#13421), released in Arrow 9.0.0: the function holder lookup now lowercases the name before matching, and the interval regexes in interval_holder.cc accept negative digits, with tests for P-1D, P-1W, P-1M and P-1Y. The linked PR #12776 was superseded by that one. Closing as resolved; please open a new issue if you still hit a problem with castINTERVALDAY or castINTERVALYEAR on a current release.
