Summary

  • build_all.py: script body wrapped in main() (identical behavior, now importable) so build_all_github.py can call it.
  • build_venv.py: ensure_build_venv() now honors an optional GLA_BUILD_VENV_DIR env var, falling back to the existing build_manifest.BUILD_VENV_DIR (D:\Garmin\.venv_gla) when unset — local builds are completely unaffected, CI sets it to a runner-owned path instead.
  • build_all_github.py (new, CI-only): runs build_all.main() unchanged (tests + Target 2 + Target 3 + post-build validation); only on success, publishes a GitHub Release (tag vX.Y.Z from version.py) with the four build outputs (Garmin_Local_Archive.zip[.sha256], Garmin_Local_Archive_Standalone.zip[.sha256]) as assets. Release notes default to the HEAD commit's message body, overridable via a workflow_dispatch input. Never imported by any local build script.
  • .github/workflows/build-release.yml (new): workflow_dispatch-only — manual, one click, not every push cuts a release. Inputs: prerelease (bool, also controls whether it's marked "Latest") and an optional release-notes override.
  • D:\Garmin\.venv_gla on windows-latest feasibility already confirmed via build-venv-probe.yml (separate, already-merged probe).

Test plan

  • All four files verified with python -m py_compile / yaml.safe_load
  • Trigger build-release.yml via workflow_dispatch after merge, confirm the full build + Release publish succeeds

build_all.py: script body wrapped in main() (identical behavior,
now importable) so build_all_github.py can call it.

build_venv.py: ensure_build_venv() now honors an optional
GLA_BUILD_VENV_DIR env var, falling back to the existing
build_manifest.BUILD_VENV_DIR (D:\Garmin\.venv_gla) when unset — local
builds are unaffected, CI sets it to a runner-owned path.

build_all_github.py: new CI-only entry point. Runs build_all.main()
unchanged (tests + Target 2 + Target 3 + post-build validation); only
on success, publishes a GitHub Release (tag vX.Y.Z from version.py)
with the four build outputs (Garmin_Local_Archive.zip[.sha256],
Garmin_Local_Archive_Standalone.zip[.sha256]) as assets. Release notes
default to the HEAD commit's message body, overridable via a
workflow_dispatch input. Never imported by any local build script.

.github/workflows/build-release.yml: workflow_dispatch-only (manual,
one click — not every push should cut a release), windows-latest.
Inputs: prerelease (bool) and an optional release-notes override.
D:\Garmin\.venv_gla-on-windows-latest feasibility already confirmed via
build-venv-probe.yml.
