Holding. The repository has three TypeScript consumers — backend-ts (^5.6), frontend (^5) and wcdb-fhir-shim (^5.8.3) — and only two of them have a Dependabot updater at all: backend-ts has none by design (#411 records why). Taking this leaves the shim on 7.x while the other two sit on 5.x, with nothing that will ever propose closing the gap automatically.

TypeScript 7 is also the native compiler port rather than an ordinary major, so it deserves a deliberate, all-three-at-once change with a full typecheck on each — not a merge-when-green on the smallest package. Same reasoning holds for #428.

Leaving open as the record of the decision rather than closing it.

Adding a measured fact to the hold. Dependabot is proposing different majors for different packages: this one moves wcdb-fhir-shim to TypeScript 7.0.2 (the native Go port — the diff pulls in @typescript/typescript-darwin-arm64 and friends), while #428 moves frontend to 6.0.3, presumably the highest its peer graph resolves.

Merging both would leave the repository on three TypeScript majors at once — 5 in backend-ts, 6 in frontend, 7 here — with no updater that will ever propose closing the gap for backend-ts (#411).

Still the same conclusion, now with the number that makes it concrete: one deliberate change across all three packages, each with its own typecheck, or none.
