These docs describe backup and restore procedures that can silently produce an unusable RustFS backup, start services on partially restored data, or time out during a Kubernetes restore. Fix these three procedures before merging. The remaining open items in the other guides are smaller accuracy gaps.

After configuring the relay's department and mail-domain settings:
**GPS trackers** (`tracking` profile): set `RESGRID__UnitTrackingConfig__Enabled`, `NativeGatewayEnabled` and at least one of `EnableQueclink`, `EnableGt06`, `EnableTeltonika` to `true`, add `tracking` to `COMPOSE_PROFILES`, then `docker compose up -d`. Trackers connect to TCP/UDP 5004 (Queclink), 5023 (GT06) and 5027 (Teltonika).

**Inbound email dispatch** (`relay` profile): set `RESGRID__RELAY__Resgrid__DepartmentId` and the dispatch domain, point the domain's MX record at the server, add `relay` to `COMPOSE_PROFILES`, then `docker compose up -d`. The relay accepts any sender (no TLS or SMTP authentication): firewall port 25.

Include the configured HTTPS port in the offline tile URL.

Line 84 allows port 8443 when port 443 is unavailable, but Line 126 documents the tile URL without a port. On that valid installation, https://rg.localhost/tiles/... targets port 443 instead of 8443. The offline map URL is therefore wrong. The setup script generates the tile URL from the configured web URL, including the port. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Make custom host names resolvable when WebHost remains .localhost.

Correct the loopback-only statement.

The default web, database, and broker ports bind to 127.0.0.1, but the optional tracking and relay profiles publish ports on all host interfaces. The guide does not pin a resgrid-setup revision, so this statement can also change as the branch changes.

Generate DNS records from the selected kit domain.

These records hard-code rick.internal, but Step 3 and the Android certificate flow allow a custom domain such as rick.yourdept.org. Correct the offline pull description in the rollout section.

Line 150 says image pulls are skipped when offline. The linked rick.sh does not check connectivity. Unless RESGRID_NO_PULL=1 is set, it runs pull --ignore-pull-failures on each node and logs a warning on failure. On an offline kit, rollout can therefore wait on registry connection timeouts before it continues. Set RESGRID_NO_PULL=1 for a deterministic offline rollout, and state that requirement in the guide.

The linked branch rick is mutable. Pin the link to a commit so the documented behavior stays fixed.

📝 Suggested wording
-`rollout` copies the checkout to every node, pulls the images on each (skipped when offline, or with `RESGRID_NO_PULL=1`), starts the nodes in order (data, infra, app, edge) over SSH, waits until the database is ready, walks you through the **optional features** and ends with a health check. The first start takes 10–20 minutes while rick2 creates the database.

Restrict access to the mcp Service.

The multi deployment creates an unauthenticated mcp Service without a NetworkPolicy. Kubernetes permits pod-to-pod access by default, so an untrusted workload can send requests to mcp:8080. The missing Ingress rule does not block cluster-internal access. Add a policy that allows only intended MCP callers, or add authentication at the endpoint.

Remove the April 2025 limit from the legacy database migration note.

Setup does not check an install date before it copies legacy data. It copies data when docker-data/sql exists and contains a PG_VERSION file. It reads the PostgreSQL version from that file and uses the matching postgres:<version>-alpine image. The April 2025 limit in this note also appears in docs/self-hosted/installation.md:263.

📝 Suggested fix
-  - single server: the `docker-data/sql` folder of installs up to April 2025 (PostgreSQL 17). The copy uses that version's image, so it needs internet access;
+  - single server: the `docker-data/sql` folder of any install that has one (the PostgreSQL version is read from its `PG_VERSION` file). The copy uses that version's image, so it needs internet access;

Restore RustFS together with PostgreSQL.

The backup section requires snapshots of data-rustfs-0, but this restore procedure only replays PostgreSQL. A full recovery can leave database records pointing to missing objects. Document the matching RustFS snapshot restore, or state that this procedure is database-only.

<title>PostgreSQL: Documentation: 18: psql</title>
<location>https://www.postgresql.org/docs/current/app-psql.htm</location>
<excerpt>citeturn0search0 [wordlim: 200] Published: 2 months ago; Crawled: last week; psql returns 0 to the shell if it finished normally, 1 if a fatal error of its own occurs (e.g., out of memory, file not found), 2 if the connection to the server went bad and the session was not interactive, and 3 if an error occurred in a script and the variable `ON_ERROR_STOP` was set. ... psql is a regular PostgreSQL client application. ... This command is primarily intended for use in plain-text dumps generated by pg_dump, pg_dumpall, and pg_restore, but it may be useful elsewhere.

## Exit Status

psql returns 0 to the shell if it finished normally, 1 if a fatal error of its own occurs (e.g., out of memory, file not found), 2 if the connection to the server went bad and the session was not interactive, and 3 if an error occurred in a script and the variable `ON_ERROR_STOP` was set.

## Usage

### Connecting to a Database

psql is a regular PostgreSQL client application. In order to connect to a database you need to know the name of your target database, the host name and port number of the server, and what database user name you want to connect as. psql can be told about those parameters via command line options, namely `-d`, `-h`, `-p`, and `-U` respectively. If an argument is found that does not belong to any option it will be interpreted as the database name (or the database user name, if the database name is already given). Not all of these options are required; there are useful defaults. If you omit the host name, psql will connect via a Unix-domain socket to a server on the local host, or via TCP/IP to `localhost` on Windows. ### Note

This feature was shamelessly plagiarized from Bash.

`LASTOID` #

The value of the last affected OID, as returned from an `INSERT` or `\lo_import` command. This variable is only guaranteed to be valid until after the result of the next SQL command has been displayed. PostgreSQL servers since version 12 do not support OID system columns anymore, thus LASTOID will always be 0 following `INSERT` when targeting such servers.

`LAST_ERROR_MESSAGE`
`LAST_ERROR_SQLSTATE` #

The primary error message and associated SQLSTATE code for the most recent failed query in the current psql session, or an empty string and `00000` if no error has occurred in the current session.

`ON_ERROR_ROLLBACK` #

When set to `on`, if a statement in a transaction block generates an error, the error is ignored and the transaction continues. When set to `interactive`, such errors are only ignored in interactive sessions, and not when reading script files. When set to `off` (the default), a statement in a transaction block that generates an error aborts the entire transaction. The error rollback mode works by issuing an implicit `SAVEPOINT` for you, just before each command that is in a transaction block, and then rolling back to the savepoint if the command fails.

`ON_ERROR_STOP` #

By default, command processing continues after an error. When this variable is set to `on`, processing will instead stop immediately. In interactive mode, psql will return to the command prompt; otherwise, psql will exit, returning error code 3 to distinguish this case from fatal error conditions, which are reported using error code 1. In either case, any currently running scripts (the top-level script, if any, and any other scripts which it may have in invoked) will be terminated immediately. If the top-level command string contained multiple SQL commands, processing will stop with the current command.

<excerpt>citeturn0search4 [wordlim: 200] Published: 2 months ago; Crawled: today; This will make restoration very slow; it is mainly useful for making dumps that can be loaded into non-PostgreSQL databases. ... It is not recommended for general use, as a malicious server with advance knowledge of the key may be able to inject arbitrary code that will be executed on the machine that runs psql with the dump output. ... Use of the `--clean` option is likely to produce additional harmless error messages about non-existent objects, although you can minimize those by adding `--if-exists`. ... It is generally recommended to use the `-X` (`--no-psqlrc`) option when restoring a database from a pg_dumpall script to ensure a clean restore process and prevent potential conflicts with non-default psql configurations.

The file lists one database pattern per row, with the following format:

    exclude database `PATTERN`

Lines starting with `#` are considered comments and ignored. Comments can be placed after an object pattern row as well. Blank lines are also ignored. See Patterns for how to perform quoting in patterns.

`--if-exists`

Use `DROP ... IF EXISTS` commands to drop objects in `--clean` mode. This suppresses “does not exist” errors that might otherwise be reported. This option is not valid unless `--clean` is also specified.

`--inserts`

Dump data as `INSERT` commands (rather than `COPY`). This will make restoration very slow; it is mainly useful for making dumps that can be loaded into non-PostgreSQL databases. Note that the restore might fail altogether if you have rearranged column order. The `--column-inserts` option is safer, though even slower.

`--load-via-partition-root`

When dumping data for a table partition, make the `COPY` or `INSERT` statements target the root of the partitioning hierarchy that contains it, rather than the partition itself. This option causes pg_dumpall to issue a `SET ROLE` `rolename` command after connecting to the database. It is useful when the authenticated user (specified by `-U`) lacks privileges needed by pg_dumpall, but can switch to a role with the required rights. Some installations have a policy against logging in directly as a superuser, and use of this option allows dumps to be made without violating the policy.

## Environment

`PGHOST`
`PGOPTIONS`
`PGPORT`
`PGUSER`

Default connection parameters

`PG_COLOR`

Specifies whether to use color in diagnostic messages. Possible values are `always`, `auto` and `never`.

This utility, like most other PostgreSQL utilities, also uses the environment variables supported by libpq (see Section 32.15).

## Notes

Since pg_dumpall calls pg_dump internally, some diagnostic messages will refer to pg_dump.

The `--clean` option can be useful even when your intention is to restore the dump script into a fresh cluster. Use of `--clean` authorizes the script to drop and re-create the built-in `postgres` and `template1` databases, ensuring that those databases will retain the same properties (for instance, locale and encoding) that they had in the source cluster. Without the option, those databases will retain their existing database-level properties, as well as any pre-existing contents.

When `--statistics` is specified, `pg_dumpall` will include most optimizer statistics in the resulting dump file. This does not include all statistics, such as those created explicitly with CREATE STATISTICS, custom statistics added by an extension, or statistics collected by the cumulative statistics system. Therefore, it may still be useful to run `ANALYZE` on each database after restoring from a dump file to ensure optimal performance. You can also run `vacuumdb -a -z` to analyze all databases.

The dump script should not be expected to run completely without errors. In particular, because the script will issue `CREATE ROLE` for every role existing in the source cluster, it is certain to get a “role already exists” error for the bootstrap superuser, unless the destination cluster was initialized with a different bootstrap superuser name. This error is harmless and should be ignored. Use of the `--clean` option is likely to produce additional harmless error messages about non-existent objects, although you can minimize those by adding `--if-exists`.

pg_dumpall requires all needed tablespace directories to exist before the restore; otherwise, database creation will fail for databases in non-default locations.

It is generally recommended to use the `-X` (`--no-psqlrc`) option when restoring a database from a pg_dumpall script to ensure a clean restore process and prevent potential conflicts with non-default psql configurations. Additionally, because the pg_dumpall script may include psql meta-commands, it may be incompatible with clients other than psql.

<excerpt>citeturn0search1 [wordlim: 200] Published: 1.9 years ago; Crawled: today; pg_dumpall — extract a PostgreSQL database cluster into a script file ... The script file contains SQL commands that can be used as input to psql to restore the databases. ... If any of the objects do not exist in the destination cluster, ignorable error messages will be reported during restore, unless `--if-exists` is also specified. ... This will cause pg_dumpall to output start/stop times to the dump file, and progress messages to standard error.

pg_dumpall needs to connect several times to the PostgreSQL server (once per database). If you use password authentication it will ask for a password each time. It is convenient to have a `~/.pgpass` file in such cases. See Section 33.15 for more information.

## Options

The following command-line options control the content and format of the output.

`-a`
`--data-only`

Dump only the data, not the schema (data definitions).

`-c`
`--clean`

Emit SQL commands to `DROP` all the dumped databases, roles, and tablespaces before recreating them. This option is useful when the restore is to overwrite an existing cluster. If any of the objects do not exist in the destination cluster, ignorable error messages will be reported during restore, unless `--if-exists` is also specified.

`-E `encoding``
`--encoding=`encoding``

Create the dump in the specified character set encoding. By default, the dump is created in the database encoding. (Another way to get the same result is to set the `PGCLIENTENCODING` environment variable to the desired dump encoding.)

`--disable-dollar-quoting`

This option disables the use of dollar quoting for function bodies, and forces them to be quoted using SQL standard string syntax.

`--disable-triggers`

This option is relevant only when creating a data-only dump. It instructs pg_dumpall to include commands to temporarily disable triggers on the target tables while the data is restored. Use this if you have referential integrity checks or other triggers on the tables that you do not want to invoke during data restore.

Presently, the commands emitted for `--disable-triggers` must be done as superuser. So, you should also specify a superuser name with `-S`, or preferably be careful to start the resulting script as a superuser.

`--extra-float-digits=`ndigits``

Use the specified value of extra_float_digits when dumping floating-point data, instead of the maximum available precision. Routine dumps made for backup purposes should not use this option.

`--exclude-database=`pattern``

Do not dump databases whose name matches `pattern`. Multiple patterns can be excluded by writing multiple `--exclude-database` switches. The `pattern` parameter is interpreted as a pattern according to the same rules used by psql&#39;s `\d` commands (see Patterns), so multiple databases can also be excluded by writing wildcard characters in the pattern. When using wildcards, be careful to quote the pattern if needed to prevent shell wildcard expansion.

`--if-exists`

Use `DROP ... IF EXISTS` commands to drop objects in `--clean` mode. This suppresses “does not exist” errors that might otherwise be reported. This option is not valid unless `--clean` is also specified.

### Warning

Restoring a dump causes the destination to execute arbitrary code of the source superusers&#39; choice. Partial dumps and partial restores do not limit that. If the source superusers are not trusted, the dumped SQL statements must be inspected before restoring. Note that the client running the dump and restore need not trust the source or destination superusers.

## Examples

To dump all databases:

    `$` `pg_dumpall &gt; db.out`

To restore database(s) from this file, you can use:

    `$` `psql -X -f db.out -d postgres`

It is not important which database you connect to here since the script file created by pg_dumpall will contain the appropriate commands to create and connect to the saved databases. An exception is that if you specified `--clean`, you must connect to the `postgres` database initially; the script will attempt to drop other databases immediately, and that will fail for the database you are connected to.</excerpt>

<excerpt>citeturn0search3 [wordlim: 200] Published: 2 months ago; Crawled: today; pg_dumpall — extract a PostgreSQL database cluster into a script file ...

`-f `filename``
`--file=`filename``

Send output to the specified file. If this is omitted, the standard output is used.

`-g`
`--globals-only`

Dump only global objects (roles and tablespaces), no databases.

`--extra-float-digits=`ndigits``

Use the specified value of extra_float_digits when dumping floating-point data, instead of the maximum available precision. Routine dumps made for backup purposes should not use this option.

This causes the appropriate partition to be re-determined for each row when the data is loaded. This may be useful when restoring data on a server where rows do not always fall into the same partitions as they did on the original server. That could happen, for example, if the partitioning column is of type text and the two systems have different definitions of the collation used to sort the partitioning column.

`--lock-wait-timeout=`timeout``

Do not wait forever to acquire shared table locks at the beginning of the dump. Instead, fail if unable to lock a table within the specified `timeout`. The timeout may be specified in any of the formats accepted by `SET statement_timeout`.

Restore with fail-fast mode only from a maintenance role and database.

The backup uses pg_dumpall --clean --if-exists. PostgreSQL documents expected errors for this restore, including the existing bootstrap role and the connected postgres database. The current command connects as "$POSTGRES_USER" to postgres, so adding -v ON_ERROR_STOP=1 can stop a normal restore before all databases are restored.

Use a temporary database and a separate superuser created after the backup, so neither appears in the dump. Then enable ON_ERROR_STOP=1 and check the restore status before scaling deployments. Do not add the flag to the current command.

Update the restore instructions around the `psql` command to use a temporary
database and a separate superuser created after the backup, then enable
`ON_ERROR_STOP` for that restore. Check the restore command’s status before
scaling deployments, and leave the existing command without the fail-fast flag.

## Optional services

Before upgrading, record image digests and render the candidate with `kubectl kustomize deploy`. Apply with `kubectl apply -k deploy`, then follow worker migrations and rollouts.
Optional services are the files in `deploy/optional/` listed in `RESGRID_OPTIONAL` (comma separated) in `deploy/generated/resgrid.env`; `./setup.sh` applies them on every run and removes the ones it applied before that you took off the list. `clamav` is managed by the virus-scanning feature. For GPS trackers or inbound email dispatch, enable their settings, add `tracking` or `relay` to `RESGRID_OPTIONAL` and run `./setup.sh`. Both create `LoadBalancer` services; the relay accepts unauthenticated SMTP, so firewall port 25.

# Resgrid Relay

Resgrid Relay is a .NET 10 solution for creating Resgrid calls from either:

  1. Windows audio tone monitoring
  2. Direct SMTP ingestion for emails sent to Resgrid dispatch addresses

The project now uses the Resgrid v4 API and OpenID Connect refresh-token authentication instead of the legacy v3 username/password flow.

## Solution layout

Project  | Target  | Purpose
--- | --- | ---
`Providers\Resgrid.Providers.ApiClient`  | `net10.0`  | Resgrid v4 API + OIDC refresh-token client
`Resgrid.Audio.Core`  | `net10.0-windows`  | Windows audio detection, recording, and audio-call submission
`Resgrid.Audio.Relay.Console`  | `net10.0`, `net10.0-windows`  | Main worker/CLI entry point for SMTP and audio modes
`Resgrid.Audio.Relay`  | `net10.0-windows`  | Lightweight Windows monitoring UI
`Resgrid.Audio.Tests`  | `net10.0-windows`  | Audio, dispatch-list, and SMTP routing tests

## Modes

### SMTP mode

  * Cross-platform
  * Intended for Linux/Docker deployments
  * Runs an SMTP listener and creates Resgrid calls from inbound mail
  * Replaces the old Postmark SMTP email API path

### Audio mode

  * Windows only
  * Uses the existing DTMF/audio watcher flow
  * Creates a call in Resgrid and uploads captured dispatch audio as a separate v4 call file

## Requirements

### Development

  * .NET SDK 10.0.202 or newer compatible .NET 10 SDK
  * Windows for the WPF app, tests, and audio mode

### Runtime

  * SMTP mode: any platform with .NET 10 runtime
  * Audio mode: Windows with an accessible audio input device

## Authentication

Relay authenticates to Resgrid through the v4 OIDC token endpoint:

  * Discovery: `https://api.resgrid.com/.well-known/openid-configuration`
  * Token endpoint: `https://api.resgrid.com/api/v4/connect/token`
  * Grant type: `refresh_token`

You must provide:

  * `ClientId`
  * `ClientSecret`
  * `RefreshToken`

Relay keeps the latest rotated refresh/access token state in a configurable token cache file.
        &quot;ServerName&quot;: &quot;resgrid-relay&quot;,
        &quot;Port&quot;: 2525,
        &quot;DataDirectory&quot;: &quot;.\\data&quot;,
        &quot;DuplicateWindowHours&quot;: 72,
        &quot;DefaultCallPriority&quot;: 1,
        &quot;MaxAttachmentBytes&quot;: 10485760,
        &quot;SaveRawMessages&quot;: true,
        &quot;DepartmentDispatchPrefix&quot;: &quot;G&quot;,
        &quot;DepartmentAddressDomains&quot;: [ &quot;dispatch.resgrid.com&quot; ],
        &quot;GroupAddressDomains&quot;: [ &quot;groups.resgrid.com&quot; ]
      }
    }

### Environment variable example

    $env:RELAY_Mode = &quot;smtp&quot;
    $env:RELAY_Resgrid__ClientId = &quot;YOUR_CLIENT_ID&quot;
    $env:RELAY_Resgrid__ClientSecret = &quot;YOUR_CLIENT_SECRET&quot;
    $env:RELAY_Resgrid__RefreshToken = &quot;YOUR_REFRESH_TOKEN&quot;
    $env:RELAY_Telemetry__Sentry__Dsn = &quot;YOUR_SENTRY_DSN&quot;
    $env:RELAY_Telemetry__Countly__Url = &quot;https://countly.example.com&quot;
    $env:RELAY_Telemetry__Countly__AppKey = &quot;YOUR_COUNTLY_APP_KEY&quot;
    $env:RELAY_Smtp__Port = &quot;2525&quot;

### SMTP observability

SMTP mode now emits structured logging for:

  * connection open / close / fault events
  * sender and recipient acceptance or rejection

## SMTP routing behavior

Relay accepts inbound SMTP messages for configured Resgrid-style dispatch domains and converts recipient addresses into v4 `DispatchList` entries.

Examples:

Recipient  | Routing
--- | ---
`abc123@dispatch.resgrid.com`  | Department dispatch code
`station7@groups.resgrid.com`  | Group dispatch code

Notes:

  * Duplicate messages are suppressed using a persisted message-id store
  * Raw `.eml` files can be saved for traceability
  * Attachments are uploaded to the created call through `CallFiles/SaveCallFile`
  * Structured logs, Sentry exception capture, and Countly custom events are available for SMTP operations
  * If your Resgrid department-dispatch code requires a prefix other than `G`, set `Smtp:DepartmentDispatchPrefix`

Document the relay's recipient and source restrictions.

The relay accepts any sender and has no TLS or SMTP authentication. Its recipient-domain list is the only application-level gate. Document the required department and recipient-domain configuration, and require a filtering MTA or source allowlist before exposing port 25 to the Internet. The relay converts accepted messages into Resgrid calls; this is not an arbitrary-mail-relay finding.

Back up the dump, `.env`, RustFS data, and Caddy state off-kit. Validate recovery on spare media/nodes.
`upgrade` gets the newest setup files (`git pull`) and runs `./setup.sh` again, which then runs `./rick.sh rollout`. Re-running setup is always safe: it backs up `.env`, adds the settings new versions need (with your node addresses), repairs missing or broken values and files, and `rollout` copies everything to the nodes, pulls the new images, restarts the kit (the worker migrates the database), asks only about new optional features and re-applies yours. It never replaces a value you set or deletes data. Offline, `RESGRID_NO_PULL=1 ./setup.sh` repairs the configuration and restarts with the images on the nodes.

Kits configured before October 2026 (three nodes: web, infra, database) upgrade the same way. Setup maps the old settings onto the four roles (the old web node runs edge and app), and `rollout` copies the old database into the data node once, while the new database is empty, then stops the old containers without removing them. If the old checkout has no `rick.sh upgrade` yet: `cp .env ~/rick-env && git checkout -- .env && git pull && cp ~/rick-env .env && ./setup.sh`. Details: [Upgrade and repair](./features-and-upgrades#upgrade-and-repair).

Make legacy database migration fail closed.

The linked resgrid-setup rick branch ignores the restore result and writes .legacy-db-migrated anyway. rollout also ignores migration failure and continues. A failed restore can leave the new database empty or partially restored, while later rollouts skip migration and the old container remains stopped.

Propagate restore failures, write .legacy-db-migrated only after a successful restore, and stop the rollout before it retires the legacy database when migration fails. Document recovery for a partial restore before relying on this upgrade path.

Update the legacy-kit upgrade guidance around `rollout` to document that
migration must succeed before the legacy database is retired and that
`.legacy-db-migrated` is written only after a successful restore. Add recovery
guidance for a partial restore before users rely on this upgrade path; do not
imply they can safely rerun or continue without recovery.

Bind the MCP port to the LAN or document the firewall rule.

The referenced docker-compose.yml publishes the MCP service as "5155:8080" with no host IP. Docker publishes that port on all host interfaces. The table at docs/self-hosted/installation.md line 37 says the port is LAN only, but the Compose file does not enforce that. The MCP HTTP endpoint is unauthenticated (line 210), so an unprotected host exposes it.

Restrict the port in one of two ways:

  • Bind the MCP port to a specific address in resgrid-setup, for example "<LAN address>:5155:8080".
  • Keep the Compose file unchanged and document the host firewall rule that blocks port 5155 from untrusted networks.

If you keep the current Compose file, correct the table row to state the actual exposure:

Update the `mcp` row in the installation port table to state that port 5155 is

describe it as LAN-only while the Compose configuration publishes it without a

**GPS trackers** (`tracking` profile): set `RESGRID__UnitTrackingConfig__Enabled`, `NativeGatewayEnabled` and at least one of `EnableQueclink`, `EnableGt06`, `EnableTeltonika` to `true`, add `tracking` to `COMPOSE_PROFILES`, then `docker compose up -d`. Trackers connect to TCP/UDP 5004 (Queclink), 5023 (GT06) and 5027 (Teltonika).

After configuring the relay's department and mail-domain settings:
**Inbound email dispatch** (`relay` profile): set `RESGRID__RELAY__Resgrid__DepartmentId` and the dispatch domains (`RESGRID__RELAY__Smtp__DepartmentAddressDomains__0`, and `GroupAddressDomains__0` for group dispatch), point the domains' MX records at the server, add `relay` to `COMPOSE_PROFILES`, then `docker compose up -d`. The relay turns mail addressed to `{dispatchcode}@<your dispatch domain>` into a Resgrid call; it is not an open mail relay, but it accepts any sender and offers no TLS or SMTP authentication, so the recipient-domain list is its only application-level gate. Restrict port 25 to the senders you expect with a firewall, or put a filtering MTA that terminates TLS in front of it, before exposing it to the internet.

Plaintext, unauthenticated SMTP exposure allows external access without TLS or sender restrictions. Require TLS termination and sender restrictions through a filtering MTA before port 25 is reachable externally.

**MCP** for AI assistants listens on port 5155. Users log in inside the protocol, but the HTTP endpoint itself is unauthenticated, and Compose publishes 5155 on every interface of the server. Block the port from untrusted networks with a host firewall, or reach it over a VPN only.

Abort the backup when any artifact fails.

Only the database command and the RustFS sequence use &&. If copying .env or creating the certificate archive fails, the remaining commands still run and the final command can succeed. This can leave a partial backup that appears usable. Chain every backup step or run the block with explicit failure handling, then verify every artifact before relying on the backup.

Failure aggregation in the replica restoration loop allows an unsuccessful kubectl scale for an earlier deployment to be overwritten by a later successful iteration, leaving deployments scaled to zero while the restore appears successful.
