Supersedes #5 with the same two commits rebased onto current main plus fixups: kept main's battery-reader alongside the new settings applier in drivers/mod.rs, restored the dropped autostart payload/route, healed api.rs handler bodies lost in conflict resolution, fixed a tower-http arity breakage and an unused binding in native_hid.rs. fmt/clippy clean, 37+4 tests pass locally. Maintainer cannot push to the author's fork, so this branch carries the rebase instead. Original verification (hardware-tested X11 polling rates, CORS origin from #4) carries over; needs a fresh CI run here.
