This PR supersedes #1347. It automates the process of updating the metadata by using the version number and release date from
version.txt. The release description in the metadata then contains a link to the related release in GitHub.Note: The metadata is only added for builds using CMake. It does not affect builds using the release scripts.
This commit should also be part of
dev.
