Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added support for FP8 quantization of SwiGLU activations in compatible DeepSeek V4 configurations, with grouped scaling and support for SiLU or GELU activation handling.
    • DeepGEMM can now process inputs that are already quantized when scale information is available, while retaining the existing path for inputs that need quantization.
    • FP8 quantization preserves the activation and multiplication rounding behavior before quantizing values.

Walkthrough

DeepSeek V4 now uses fused SwiGLU activation and grouped FP8 quantization for a matching DeepGEMM configuration. The projection method accepts prequantized input with attached scales and uses a caller-provided output tensor.

Changes: DeepSeek V4 FP8 SwiGLU projection

Layer / File(s) Summary
FP8 fused activation quantization
lightllm/common/basemodel/triton_kernel/fused_moe/moe_silu_and_mul.py
A Triton kernel and wrapper apply the activation, quantize each group to FP8, and return the quantized tensor with its scales.
Prequantized DeepGEMM projection

For the specified DeepGEMM configuration, _ffn_tp passes quantized SwiGLU output and scales to the projection. apply uses scaled input directly and requires an explicit output tensor.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "perf(quant): 融合 SwiGLU 激活与 FP8 输入量化" states the main change: fusing the SwiGLU activation with FP8 input quantization. The raw summary confirms the new silu_and_mul_quant_fp8 kernel, its use in the DeepSeek V4 shared-expert down-projection path, and the DeepGEMM apply change. The objectives say the fusion aims to cut intermediate BF16 reads and writes and separate kernel launches. The title is concise, specific, and matches the changeset. It is written in Chinese, which is acceptable for this project.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 25.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 4 functions across 3 files.

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Clamp up to the BF16 limit used by the unfused path.

When limit is not exactly representable in BF16, the fused kernel clamps up to the fp32 value of limit. The unfused kernel clamps up to the BF16 value of limit, because up is BF16 and limit is a constexpr. The two paths therefore round the BF16 product differently for some inputs, and the FP8 output can differ.

This applies only when swiglu_limit from the model config is not exactly representable in BF16. The in-tree value 10.0 is exact, so the difference does not occur there.

Suggested fix
     if USE_LIMIT:
         gate = tl.minimum(gate, limit)
- up = tl.minimum(tl.maximum(up, -limit), limit)
+ up_limit = limit.to(input_ptr.dtype.element_ty).to(tl.float32)
+ up = tl.minimum(tl.maximum(up, -up_limit), up_limit)

Update the USE_LIMIT branch in the fused kernel so the bounds used to clamp up
are rounded to input_ptr’s element type and then represented as fp32, matching
the unfused path; leave the gate clamp unchanged.
