Implements 6.5 of the usability plan. Stacked on fix/dock-height.

  • names_to_refresh returns nothing when the column has no units.
  • update_foliation_features does nothing for an empty or unset column, so the faults build.
  • valid accepts a model with faults and no groups.
  • check_stratigraphy does not ask for layers or contacts when the column is empty; the step is optional.
  • Step 5 disables the stratigraphic surfaces and the block model when the model has only faults.

Tests: unit tests for names_to_refresh and the checks (257 unit tests pass). The QGIS test of update_model with faults and no column is not written yet.

In the map workflow, an empty stratigraphic column no longer needs the
geology layer, the structure layer or basal contacts. The build skips the
contacts and thickness calculation and the stratigraphic feature, and
builds the faults. Step 5 does not offer the stratigraphic surfaces or the
block model when the model has only faults.
