mobile: numeric inputs lack inputmode; email/password inputs lack autocomplete #986

Closed

Description

@cristim

Summary

No inputmode, autocomplete, autocapitalize, or autocorrect attributes are present on any input in index.html. This causes the wrong software keyboard to appear and disables browser autofill on mobile.

Specific gaps:

  • type=number coverage/grace fields: add inputmode="decimal" and autocomplete="off"
  • type=email fields (notification email, user email, contact email): add autocomplete="email" autocapitalize="none" autocorrect="off"
  • type=password (login, user create): add autocomplete="current-password" or "new-password" as appropriate
  • Text inputs for API keys / ARNs: add autocapitalize="none" autocorrect="off" spellcheck="false"

Repro

iOS Safari, 375x812. Open Settings -> Notifications; tap the coverage % field. iOS shows the full QWERTY keyboard instead of the numeric pad.

Where in code

frontend/src/index.html - all <input> elements

Proposed fix

Add the attributes listed above inline in index.html. No JS changes needed.

Out of scope

Custom keyboard component; Android-specific IME tuning.

    Partially addressed by PR #989: numeric inputs now carry inputmode="numeric" pattern="[0-9]*" and the notification-email field got autocomplete="email". Still open as follow-up: autocapitalize/autocorrect/spellcheck on email and autocomplete on password / API-key / ARN text inputs. Keeping this issue open for that remainder.
