KyronSystems

KyronSystems is an open source development organization focused on building useful, reliable, and accessible software for everyone.

We enjoy working close to the system, learning how technology works from the ground up, and sharing what we build with the wider community. Our projects range from operating-system development and low-level tooling to scripts, utilities, experiments, and documentation.

What We Are Building

We are currently working on KyronOS 27, an ambitious operating-system project made with curiosity, persistence, and a strong focus on learning. KyronOS 27 is being developed step by step, with attention to the foundations that make a system dependable: boot processes, hardware interaction, memory, processes, filesystems, command-line tools, and a practical developer experience.

There is still a lot to build, and that is part of the fun. We welcome ideas, testing, documentation, technical discussion, and code as the project continues to grow.

Our Skills

Our work brings together multiple languages and areas of software development, including:

  • C++ for applications, systems components, and structured low-level code
  • C for kernels, embedded work, operating-system foundations, and performance-sensitive code
  • Assembly (ASM) for boot code, processor-specific routines, hardware interfaces, and understanding the machine beneath higher-level abstractions
  • Python for automation, developer tools, testing, utilities, and prototypes
  • Shell scripting for build workflows, system administration, automation, and command-line tools
  • Make and build systems for compiling, linking, packaging, and repeatable development workflows
  • Git and GitHub for collaboration, version control, issue tracking, and open-source development
  • Debugging and testing for finding problems, validating changes, and making projects more dependable
  • Documentation for explaining projects clearly and helping new contributors get started

We are always learning and expanding these skills. A willingness to explore, experiment, and share knowledge matters just as much as previous experience.

Open Source First

We believe software is stronger when people can inspect it, learn from it, improve it, and build on it. Our projects are developed openly so that others can follow the process, contribute improvements, and take part in the journey.

Contributing

Contributors are welcome at any time. You do not need to be an expert or already know every language we use. There are many valuable ways to help:

  • Report bugs or describe unexpected behavior
  • Suggest features, improvements, or project ideas
  • Test KyronOS 27 and share useful feedback
  • Improve documentation, examples, and setup instructions
  • Write or review code in C++, C, ASM, Python, Shell, or other languages
  • Help investigate issues and explain technical concepts
  • Share feedback on usability, build workflows, and developer experience

Every contribution helps make the projects better. Start with an issue, a discussion, documentation improvement, or small change that interests you.
