load_geotiff now sets backend.transform and backend.crs (they were only in
the meta dict), and save_geotiff falls back to them, so a backend can be
saved on its own: save_geotiff(backend, uri). Explicit arguments still win
over meta, and meta over the backend.

Square metres on the CRS's ellipsoid for a geographic grid (pyproj.Geod,
one polygon per row), the pixel area for a projected one. A fraction map on
a 1/12 degree grid has cells from ~86 km2 at the equator to ~72 km2 in the
south; its class areas are fraction x cell area, not x a nominal size.
