What prompted this PR ? Do we officially drop SRM support ? If not, we still need the SpaceToken.

The prompt is that I restarted working on this PR: #8223 and I made this just to get your comment.

Not in LHCb, the future middleware libraries are dropping it (Gfal), some storage have definitely deprecated them (dCache). I am happy to remove it as well, I am just wondering whether it is worth the effort now, or if we just don't port it to the new solution
