I agree with all of this.
The only thing I might suggest as an addition - something one of my early managers suggested to me too-many-years ago is: if there's an onboarding guide for , read it and update it with anything that is new/has changed, but if, as is often the case, there is no onboarding guide - write one, and present it to your manager once it is complete.
