# Edina Kurdi


**Favourite sport**


- The question is whether to watch or do? I don't like watching sports. However, I love cheering runners on as a volunteer at parkrun and other running events.


- I love BJJ. Unfortunately, for various reasons I have not been able to go back to practice for a year now, but I hope to in the future. I never in a million years expected to like martial arts, but I feel BJJ is empowering. I started by going to a self-defence course, and it turned out to be BJJ. I loved it from the moment I started. It makes me feel strong and confident.


**Favourite food**


I don't have a favourite food. I enjoy food above all else. I think it is one of the best things in life. However, I don't have one single food that rules them all. I am drawn to curries and Asian dishes in general. The flavour profile of the East is just amazing. I love the umami flavours of mushrooms, soy sauce, miso, gochujang, and the mixing of savoury with sweet and spicy (just a little though).


I cook from scratch. I always have, and I aim to cook something different every day, although that is just the aim. I want to try everything that exists, within limits though, as I don't consider animals food.


I really enjoy experimenting with unusual recipes, such as making a cake from millet or chickpeas.


**Favourite music**


I love music, but I don't have a favourite genre. It often depends on my mood. Although I tend to enjoy upbeat, danceable, jumpy, or silly songs.

**Interesting fact about me**


I guess what shocks most people is that my husband lives on the other side of the world. We have always been like this and have been long-distance for over 12 years.
