Welcome to the Tor-browser-with-patch-installed wiki! Back on tor 8 it had a security hole in it and if you installed the patch here you could run Tor as root, but the good people at Tor got the message and made the browser more difficult to patch over and run as root. I tried to patch over 9 and find the hole, but they made it more difficult. Tor did not pay me to find the first hole, so I was not really dedicated to finding the second if any on Tor 9. I trusted Tor knows best and do not run their browser as root.
