Move settings out of admin-only registry keys

I'm currently experiencing an issue with click+drag with a single finger. I want to try some of the configuration options in the control panel, but it looks like the control panel and the underlying settings require access to the registry in a spot that requires Administrator access. Unfortunately I do not have access as an Administrator on this machine (work policy) so I am unable to try some of the settings.

Would it be possible to move some of these settings somewhere else?

sorry for the late reply.

Unfortunately this is a precise choice, which does not only concern the settings in the registry.

For example, the Control Panel uses a "control device" (within the driver) to query the battery level. Access to this control device is limited to Administrators, for security reasons.

My rationale was if you allow an open source kernel driver to run on a PC, then you can trust a Control Panel that requires administrative privileges...
