Because Perforce didn't react here, the community decided to continue the open source development: https://github.com/OpenVoxProject/openvoxdb . Packages are available at https://apt.voxpupuli.org/ and https://yum.voxpupuli.org/ .

@bastelfreak Wow. Thanks for the tip. Now, I've already installed openvoxdb using apt-get. I've put this in hiera:

puppetdb::puppetdb_package: openvoxdb
puppetdb::master::config::terminus_package: openvoxdb-termini

But I'm not a super programmer. How do we use this in place of the puppetlabs-puppetdb module? My installs on Ubuntu 24.04 are failing. The puppetlabs-puppetdb module does not install the database, make users, give permissions. When I do all that manually, then it will display puppetboard but not completely functional.

Any help would be great... and appreciated.

For all of those who are not super programmer computer science types, here is the "Too Long: Didn't Read"

puppetlabs-puppetdb is the module at the forge and is not compatible with Ubuntu 24.04 but Openvox has created a "drop in" replacement here: https://github.com/voxpupuli/puppet-openvoxdb/tree/main

This page and issue are for the puppetdb source code and with the Perforce "force" out and all the circus around it, Voxpopuli created another dropin for the puppetdb functionality and that can be found here: https://github.com/OpenVoxProject/openvoxdb

Their documentation link on that page goes back to Perforce docs which will work once you get the openvoxdb running and here is the docs for how to do that (they've been updating): https://voxpupuli.org/openvox/install/

In order for me to get this working on my VPS I have a bootstrap script to get puppet (openvox-agent), and puppetserver (openvox-server) with puppetdb (openvoxdb) up and running (fair warning: I don't know if I really need all these gems but it works...)

By the way, I could never get augeas to work with Openvox. Had to change my manifests but I appreciate all the work everyone did to move things this far. Otherwise, it was Chef...
