UX/window closes after 5 seconds, 24.04 daily

latest noble daily branch

happens even after data reset, main UI window shows up for about 5 seconds then disappears

when it was linked I could see the daemon still fetching in the background but not the UX

my gurk also broke around the same time, perhaps to do with the new Presage version? or maybe my specific configuration, since it broke in the middle of a day when it was working after months of flawlessness?

happy to provide additional info if helpful. thanks for making this, very useful esp as an alternative for terminal apps for voice calls, I really needed that

What version are you talking about 24.04-1.x daily, or 24.04-2.x daily ? What device are you using?

Can you try the folowing

do

sudo vi /opt/click.ubuntu.com/signalut.pparent/current/launcher.sh

And delete, next to the en the line

( utils/sleep.sh; $PWD/bin/xdg-open )&

See if it works better

salut ! i have a similar issue, it crashes randomly and tikes a lot of time to initialise.
i am on 24 04 stable with redmi 9
if i can do something to help let me know (i am quite noob with UT)

If you're talking about an issue on 24.04 stable then it's not the same issue. The issue discussed here concerns 24.04 daily (daily development channel, not in production), some code has been pushed two weeks ago in the system that creates problems with this app.

If you have issues on 24.04 stable, please open another bug report, and explain in details, what happens, how it happens, and how it can be reproduced, and specify your exact system version: is it 24.04-1.2 ? What do you mean by it takes a long time: any time between 10s-15s is normal initialization time, it is expected.

communities can be prickly sometimes but I do appreciate 🍻

for now I will downgrade to stable because both this and whatsnew are game changers for my usability (I mainly use gurk under libertine for signal but having this backup and also handling calls etc is invaluable for me)

... but it looks like you have a good handle on a final resolution for daily

Yes well thank's for mentioning it, because indeed it could seem, according to some, that having a working whatsapp and signal app, is a small hack employed by a few that is not worth bothering for! 😅
